Should the US get more involved with Hong Kong protests?

BOTH SIDES ARE TALKING. WITH THAT, SHANNON, BACK TO YOU.>>Jesse: THANK YOU VERY MUCH. BY THE WAKE OF MY LIFE PICTURE OF THE AIRPORT IN THE SITUATION SEEMS TO BE CALM AT THE MOMENT. AND TRAVELERS TRYING TO GET WHERE THEY ARE GOING. WE ARE STANDING BY TO SEE IF MORE PROTEST THAT CAN SHAPE THERE. THE AIRPORT HAS BEEN CLOSED AT TIMES AND FRUSTRATING BUT YOU WILL SEE PEOPLE, THE SIGNS ALL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA FOR SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE BUT WE ARE FIGHTING FOR LIBERTY. WE WILL KEEP AN EYE ON IT. AS CHINA WARNS THE U.S. TO STAY OUT OF THIS WHOLE THING, THERE ARE GROWING CALLS FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE IN D.C. CALLING ON AMERICA TO GET MORE INVOLVED IN SUPPORTING THE PRO-DEMOCRACY PROTESTERS IN HONG KONG. SHOULD WAKE? THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS WITH FORMER SENIOR DIRECTOR OF STRATEGIC PLANNING AT THE NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL GENERAL, GREAT TO HAVE YOU BACK WITH US.>>GREAT TO BE BACK.>>Jesse: LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS A LITTLE BIT. THERE IS A LOT OF PRESSURE ON THE PRESIDENT TO SAY AND DO WHAT HE HAS. I HOPE EVERYTHING WORKS OUT OKAY I’M MOVING PEOPLE TO THE BORDER. I HOPE NO ONE GETS KILLED BUT WHAT SHOULD THE LEADER OF THE UNITED STATES BE SAYING AT THIS MOMENT?>>A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN 240 YEARS AGO, THOSE KIDS WOULD HAVE BEEN OUR FOUNDING FATHERS ACTUALLY FIGHTING FOR OUR FREEDOM RATHER THAN HONG KONG AIRPORT BOSTON HARBOR WHERE THEY WERE TOSSING TEA. THE KING OF ENGLAND CALLING THEM TERRORISTS TOO. ONE OF THE THINGS WE TALKED ABOUT THE NATIONAL SECURITY STRATEGY, AMERICA NEEDS TO GET BACK TO TALKING ABOUT PRINCIPLES, NOT JUST OPEN MARKETS TO LEAVE THE WEALTH OF OPEN MARKETS AND DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES LEAD TO A BETTER WORLD.>>Jesse: I THOUGHT ABOUT TODAY IN THE LAST FEW DAYS OF THE GREEN EVOLUTION BACK IN IRAN IN 2,000 NIGHTS AND CRITICISM OF OBAMA ADMINISTRATION FOR THAT NOT GETTING MORE INVOLVED. SOME PEOPLE THOUGHT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE MORE. AND BEN SHAPIRO TWEETING OBAMA REMAINED SILENT DURING 2009 ARENA PROTEST AND IT WAS A MORAL OF THE HIGHEST ORDER THAT TRUMP MUST NOT REMAIN SILENT ON HONG KONG.>>THERE IS A FAILED BELIEF THAT IF WE DON’T STAND UP TO TOTALITARIAN OR IF WE STAND UP TO TOWARD TALENT. WE’LL MAKE IT WORSE FOR THE PROTESTERS. THE PARTY THE CHINESE PARTY WILL DO WHAT THEY WANT TO DO. THEY BELIEVE THAT WE HAVE REVOLUTIONS BECAUSE OF WHO WE ARE. SO WE ACTUALLY HAVE TO SPEAK UP FOR PRINCIPLES. BECAUSE OTHERWISE, NOBODY WILL. EVERYBODY IS LOOKING TO THE UNITED STATES. YOU WILL NOT SEE EUROPE STAND UP FOR ASIA STAND UP. HE WILL NOT SEE THE U.K., GERMANY SO AS TO BE AMERICA THAT STANDS FOR DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES AND RULE OF LAW, CIVIL RIGHTS AND HUMAN RIGHTS.>>Jesse: IT HAS BEEN INTERESTING TO SEE A NUMBER OF PROTESTERS IN HONG KONG USING U.K. FLAGS, BRITISH FLAGS, AMERICAN FLAGS AND SINGING OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM THERE WHICH GIVES CHINESE AMMUNITION THAT LAMENTING AND GETTING INVOLVED. BUT IT SEEMS AN APPEAL TO ANY ORGANIZED DEMOCRACY OUT THERE THAT WILL COME TO THEIR AID.>>THINK ABOUT US. WE WERE GOING TO FRANCE FOR HELP FIGHTING FOR OUR OWN DEMOCRACY. YES, THEY ARE LOOKING FOR OUTSIDE HELP. THEY KNOW THE COMMUNIST PARTY HAS ALL THE POWER IN THE WORLD.>>Jesse: SO THE CONGA MYTHS — AMERICA IS PROOF THAT DEMOCRACY IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR. PROTESTERS IN HONG KONG FIGHTING FOR THE SAME REASON EVEN IN THE FACE OF CHINESE AGGRESSION AND POLICE BRUTALITY. THEY ARE STANDING BY THE WORTHY CAUSE. WE HEAR DEMANDS FOR FREEDOM AND SUPPORT THEM AND THEIR MISSION. SO THIS AGAINST THE BACKDROP, OBVIOUSLY ONGOING TRADE NEGOTIATIONS MANY CALLING TRADE WAR WITH CHINA, HOW DOES THAT COMPLICATE THE SITUATION? SPEAK WITH THE TRADE WAR THE CHINESE COMMUNIST PARTY DECIDED THEY WILL NOT MAKE A DEAL. WHATEVER WE DO WITH REGARD TO HOW WE SPEAK OUT ABOUT HONG KONG OR EVEN IF WE CONTINUE TO HAVE NEGOTIATIONS, THERE IS NO WAY TO CONVINCE HIM TO CHANGE. THEY ARE WAITING FOR 2020 AND THEY WANT THE NEW PRESIDENT AND THEY THINK THEY WILL GET ONE.>>Jesse: TOM COTTON SAID THE REPUBLICAN VETERAN HIMSELF, HERE ARE SOME THINGS HE PUTS UP. WE WILL SHOW SOME OF THESE THINGS HE TALKS ABOUT WE SHOULD DO HALTING TRADE NEGOTIATIONS WITH BEIJING CHEMIST SENTIENT MENTION OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OFFICIALS FOR BOOKING VISAS, PARTY LEADERS AND THEIR FAMILIES AND CURTAILING STUDENT VISAS FOR CHINESE NATIONALISTS. EXPULSION OF CHINESE OFFICIALS FROM CHINESE LEADERSHIP POSITIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS AND REVISING HONG KONG POLICY ACT. HOW LIKELY DO YOU THINK ANY OF THOSE OPTIONS ARE TO BE EXECUTED?>>PROBABLY NOT LIKELY BUT WE DO NEED TO THINK HOW INVOLVED WE ARE WITH THEIR ECONOMY AND CERTAINLY THEIR FINANCIAL SYSTEM. HONG KONG IS A WINDOW TO U.S. WESTERN CAPITAL MARKETS. THEIR ABILITY TO GET U.S. DOLLARS COMES FROM OUR SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HONG KONG. AND THE MARKET INDEX WENT FROM FIVE TO 20% WHICH MEANS OUR RETIREMENT FUNDS ARE POURING BILLIONS OF DOLLARS INTO CHINA. THAT IS SOMETHING THAT IS REALLY PROBLEMATIC GIVING EVERYTHING GOING ON.>>Jesse: INTERESTING TO ME TOO A NUMBER OF BIPARTISAN CALLS ABOUT THIS AND THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE, ALONG WITH KEVIN McCARTHY THE TOP REPUBLICAN IN THE HOUSE, PETE BUTTIGIEG THE DEMOCRAT ON THE 2020 CAMPAIGN TRAIL. ALL OF THEM AND MANY VOICES COMING TOGETHER SENATOR RUBIO COMES AND BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE SAYING WE HAVE TO DO MORE TO STEP UP. IT IS UNUSUAL IN THESE DAYS TO SEE SOMETHING. WITH BIPARTISAN SUPPORT, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS ONE OF THOSE MOMENTS.>>AMERICA USED TO MAKE THE

  1. It is interesting to see that there is no Western media actually shows the "other side of the story/violent parts" of the protest where the pro-police Hong Kongers or Mainlanders getting ashamed and beaten up by a group of protesters, and the senior gentleman getting harassed and bullied for not taking the protectors flyers. So if you don't understand Chinese, currently you just cannot know the other side of the story. Are Western journalists just so blind to see only what they want to see? But it will be too weird that they all happen to be blind in the same eye and seeing the same thing. I am not into conspiracy theories, but it just this is too scary to see how Western medias are reporting on Hong Kong's matter. The so-called freedom of speech/media of the Western world is turning into an international joke. Feel bad for the people who only read in English and still believe in their media. It really seems like the Western world is getting more brain-washed instead of the Chinese.

  2. The slogun there in Hong Kong is Liberate Hong Kong. This is the very first time being used since the end of the Japanese Occupation of Hong Kong from Christmas 1941 to August 1945.This time is the Liberation from Communist Tyrant.

ARISE THE NATION OF HONG KONG. GEORGE WASHINGTON IS BEHIND US IN SPIRIT !

  3. All my love and support for those amazing people who are resisting the Evil Criminal Chinese Communist Party leaders!
They are fighting for their future.
They are where we were, the Colonists (Hong Kongers) fighting the British (Communists) for their Liberty!

  4. WOW, it's more calm now? Absolutely not a good sign! US must be more involved so as not to let the riots die down. — and say no to freedom for the travelers in airport.

  5. America need to mine its own dam business were not free here in this country the globalist control this country there's plenty of fighting to do here. —– The 2nd amendment is under attack hell the whole Constitution is being rolled back and some of you Americans are looking to help Hong Kong? When the American people free themselves from the globalist then maybe the American people can think about helping other people but for now WE THE PEOPLE fight is not outside this country but inside this country. Wake up American people you being distracted again.

  6. So stocks plummet now America wants to get involved. Trump should have stayed away from trade policy. He is ruining the economy.

  7. The US needs to stay out of this family squabble, it is none of our business. Those in government who want the US to interfere are trying to protect their investments in Hong Kong. It's all about money.

  8. My guess is that Mr. Trump should just stay away! Sorry, keep the US away;. Is not China a sovereign country? Do they not have control over Hong Kong in 2020? Did not Briton give control over to the Chinese?
Did not Britain, by, force make sure that the Chinese were opium addicts? Remember the boxer rebellion? Do you folks remember mao and his little red book that is part of the curriculum of most US colleges?
I say stay away, the US can't even patrol Chicago, Baltimore, Ferguson or Detroit, oops forgot Watts.

  9. It's best that US doesn't get involved since that may risk escalating the issue into a full scale WW III, in which everyone loses in the end.

  10. DON'T LOSE SIGHT OF THE FACT GEORGE SOROS IS FUNDING THE MOST VIOLENT PROTESTERS THE SHEEP ARE BEING SUCKED IN , THEY ALREADY ACHIEVED THERE FIRST GOAL , NOW ITS JUST ANOTHER WAR ATTEMPT BY THE DEEP STATE .

  11. First off, the US is not now, nor ever has been, a true bastion of Freedom and Democracy, holding it's shining light as a beacon for the rest of the world to follow. US taxpayers being force-fed this idea is a brainwashing tactic to disguise the fact that we are no more "free" than the people of Russia or North Korea. Discussing whether to validate the protesters is like arguing over who gets to shoot the squirrel out of the tree. Either way, the squirrel ends up dead…

  12. There are 195 countries on earth. Let someone else pick up the tab were 22.5 Trillion in debt. Not our business not our problem.

  13. If the USA gets involved. They will be blamed for literally every single thing that ever goes wrong with that country. Just keep away

  14. Authoritarian countries ALWAYS have an advantage over democracies. They don't have to worry about dissent, political uprisings, etc.. nearly as much as democracies (because who is gonna vote them out?). Which allows them to intervene and disrespect the sovereignty of other countries, violate human rights and freedom, and take advantage of democratic nations when making deals (Why would the Chinese leader back down from the trade war? What reason do they have? If their economy falls, he'll still be in power. If our economy falls, you can bet Trump won't).
Authoritarianism is a severe risk to national security. Especially when authoritarian nations work together to consolidate power. We should recognize authoritarianism ANYWHERE in the world as a national security threat. Not that we should invade every authoritarian country in the world, but at the very least they should be punished economically. Let's call it the Freedom Tax. If you want to participate in global affairs, you best not oppress political dissent. Because criticism is critical to growth. And freedom of speech/freedom of press is vital to the growth of a nation and the world. Corruption can only thrive when such rights are trampled on/neglected, and corruption only ensures political and market inefficiency and the exploitation of the public for the elites (Yes, we have corruption here, but not nearly as much as most nations).

So should we get more involved with Hong Kong? ABSOLUTELY!

  15. Not officially, but we should encourage any group that use peaceful means to gain sovereignty and personal freedom.

  16. The president is putting America first.. If he wasnt, we would end up in the same position as the protesters are but in the US

  17. Protesters are asking for universal suffrage. Are we getting it ourselves? Are you guys opposing electoral college now?

  18. Haha!!! Stupid world, made more stupid by media! Especially western biased media's!!!
USA is secretly fueling the protest in Hong Kong!! everyone except brainwashed people knows that!

  19. US should stay away from mingling others’ business. Hong Kong is neither US territory nor colony. There are numerous gun killing massacres in US that has made US a third world nation. Mind your own racial tension and social turmoil, USA!

  20. Finally a news Chanel that isn’t fully bought out by Commie China. I am frustrated with current journalism nowadays, there are some stupid but not all of us are that stupid to not understand how you present your news.
Keep up the good work, Fox.

  21. Idk if the USA can really engage in open 'collusion' at this point in time. It's a very popular topic in US Politics right now. Plus, Americans are weary of the better part of a century of wars, American blood in Hong Kong will lead to Vietnam on Steroids. Especially with Marxist Extremism on the rise .

  22. No, America needs to mind its on business! Would we want China to interfere with our Government! America is NOT the World Police!

  23. It is common sense that an effective way to deter bad behavior is punishment. In Hong Kong, we now have a situation that most of the violence offenders will be released soon after they are arrested. Why? Most Hong Kong judges are on rioters’ side because most of them are British-trained or with British citizenship. See WHO are on the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal! No wonder, the riot party in Hong Kong keeps rolling!

  24. It is common sense that an effective way to deter bad behavior is punishment. Most Hong Kong judges are on rioters’ side because most of them are British-trained or with British citizenship. See WHO are on the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal! 25. Foreigners should get out immediately ,
Don't be Venezuela ! You can not change China easily .no matters sanctions or boycott
Thanks Moscow don't globally on human right player
    No troops

  26. America thinking they should intervene is ridiculous to be honest. What if other countries decided to sanction America because of their treatment of black americans? Absolutely the same. The british had no business thinking of intevening for the Confederates in the Civil War and America has no business intervening on the side of the Hong Kong people, its not even the government of Hong Kong but just a portion of the Hong Kong population who is rightfully unhappy with Beijing. Still not grounds for butting in.

  27. Citizens' arrests are increasing. The ordinary citizens are on alert for violators of law and are authorized to arrest any person seen to be creating disturbances.

  28. No let Hong Kong fight their own battles and maybe the Chinese Mainland people will help fight this totalitarian dictator

  29. Sad to say only 55% of HK voters cast their ballots in the 2016 elections. 45% threw their votes down the drain. Get them to vote.

  30. US, if you really care about them, please grant citizenship to these peacful protesters, they need to live in a super democratic country and express their peacefull thoughts freely ! Please!

  31. President Donald Trump the master negotiator losing another trade war with China, nobody wants his involvement solving the protests. Why is economic genius Donald Trump cancelling the tariffs, he said it was bringing in billions of dollars for the Americans :-)?

  32. Don’t trust democrats call on China, these democrats are just another bill Clinton colon who sell out America for their own pockets. Pretend hate China once becomes America president then see the real face of these democrats who keep talking BUT NO action

  33. Hong Kong is the modern equivalent to west Berlin would the U.S stand by if the Soviet Union threatens West Berlin's liberty and freedom.

  34. Stop garCIA intervene in other countries! Peace of the world can be reached only if USA will close 80% of her foreign offices! No more interventions! No more black ops killing people! No more corruption!!!! garCIA is global corruption!!!!

  35. I don’t see how Hong long is America’s responsibility.

There are repressed countries all over the world. Why would we risk a world war over a city that has nothing to do with us.

  36. Of course we should we should be cheering for China , but they need to come up with a new name for their political ideology its no longer communism red China ! The people are being allowed to protest , bravo XiJinPing .

But lets get back to business the airport is no place for a party , big Fire risk you can't have firecrackers and party whistles and hats.. In the name of public safety they have to do that somewhere else ..
Like an obscure providence on the mainland, learn from the USA , British , Canada , Australia , New Zealand …lol Give the people what they want fines and jail for gathering without the proper permits

  37. We must do something to support the peaceful demonstration seeking for democracy. But these violent protesters in Hong Kong are not doing peaceful protesting. In the video, you can clearly see these protesters are pointing laser beams at police officers. If you do this in LA, the police officer can taser you without warning.

  38. First the UK should be voicing opposition since they entered into the agreement with China over how Hong Kong would be treated until 2047.
China has breached that agreement. Then the US can voice support.

  39. These rioters should look what passport they hold….China passport! These rioters passports must be revoked immediately.

  40. No, you should get involved with your own protesters. A few of them were run over by a pickup truck yesterday and then pepper sprayed. It never gets coverage by msm.

  41. Newscasters urging the US into a world war over a former British colony the global left urged them to give away to Mainland China? Sounds pretty asinine to me.

  42. Hong Kong protest was a Western strategy to conquer China without the use of weapons but from within. Well played.
Chinese are stupid and easily brainwash to pit them among themselves.

  43. Why are we dealing with other country's political affairs? what foothold do we have in china? Hong Kong was a "colony" of Britain. It was illegally taken from China. Let them deal with their own problems and we stay out of them. are everyone at Fox idiots?

  44. The US should support Hong Kong protesters. China has become a fascist empire, posing a huge threat to many Asian countries. By supporting Hong Kong, the US can ensure the safety of Japan and Taiwan as well. Hong Kong now is just like Ukraine in 2014. When Russia invaded Ukraine, Obama did nothing to stop Russia and therefore the US lost its influence in eastern Europe.

  45. Get the hell out of Hong Kong! The US government is always a trouble maker in the world! Stop intervening Hong Kong China. Shame on you the nasty US government!

  46. Nope! This is not your business, just stay away. Those so called protectors are mobs, they attack police officers, abuse tourists, they beat up people who have different opinions. What you should do is stop reporting fake news! Stop fooling your people! That’s it!!!!

  47. Well they already did. As a matter of fact they're the ones fueling the protests! After all, they should win against China… No matter how much dirty trick they do. Remember Ghadafi? Venezuela or even way back sabotaging President's Magsaysay's plane because he was so good… Almost better than US during his time.
Yes. They should involve themselves like the hypocrites they were and load up those so called Democracy Bullets.

  48. These kids are the biggest idiots in the world. They really need to read up on their history. Hong Kong under British rule did not have any democracy. Hong Kongers were not allowed to vote, and all of the highest positions in Hong Kong were appointed by Britain, and they only appointed white people. Hong Kong was a colony, and it's people were viewed as subjects, not citizens.

  49. Deal with your own white supremacy issue. Don't try to set up millitary base in Hong Kong. We all know what you are thinking.

  50. US should pay attention to its own problems and do things by using same standard. Look Portland police arrested protesters yesterday. They did not use violence only possession of weapon. Comparing to Hong Kong protesters they were proesting peacefully. Trump's standard, he should talk to the protesters as he advised PRC's president Xi.

  51. The reason why the people of HK are relying on the US for help is because the US is a country that was built by the ideals of protest, freedom, and independence. The people of HK see themselves as the American Patriots back in the 1770s fighting against the British Empire for indepence. I dont understand how some American citizens are so blind to see this through. The people of Hong Kong are fighting for their freedom and independence from China. Just like how the Patriots fought against the British Empire for independence. It's true that the protests are bloody and brutal but all protests that are being fought for freedom are bloody. It's written in history everywhere.

  52. Hong Kong shares the same universal values with the US against the dictatorship of anti-humanism. Only the US has the power to compete with the Communist Party, and in fact the US can also gain trade margins from the assistance of Hong Kong and will achieve substantial economic benefits

  53. I'm a Trump supporter, and, yes, Trump needs to get more involved in Hong Kong.
It's not just a "tough situation," it's a historically significant boiling point, and could quickly become an unprecedented tragedy.

  54. No way, until America can get rid of Pelosi, Hillary, Obama, and Schumer for starts and then lower Americans taxes we should forget about making other's lives happier. We the People have had to sit back and watch everyone's problems resolved while we are beaten down and verbally abused not to mention spat on. No, forget Hong Kong or other countries until we can clean up the criminals living off good real Americans.
