Climate Protester Climbs A Massive Tripod, a Greta Thunberg Helpline??

Hello, I’m Daisy Cousens. Welcome to This Week in Social Justice. INTRO This week’s biggest and baddest social justice
fails include the Extinction Rebellion climate protestor who
suspended herself from a tripod on Brisbane’s Victoria Bridge, the
ABC parody video featuring a fictional Greta Thunberg Helpline for adults
who are apparently angry with her, and depending on how long
I feel like talking about the first two topics, we may even get time
for a bonus topic. So! Let’s
get started. But! While I have your attention; hit that subscribe
button if you haven’t already, it really helps me out
when you do that. If you’ve
watched a few of my videos, and you like them, but haven’t
subscribed to my channel yet, then now is the perfect opportunity
for you to do so, and it would make me super duper happy if you did. I do two videos a week and regular live streams,
so if you want to be notified of all them, hit that subscribe button
right now. Thank you! Here we go. In yet another climate change protest in Brisbane’s
CBD, an Extinction Rebellion activist has really taken
the cake by suspending herself five metres from the ground on a tripod. The 22-year old ex
midwife Sophie Thompson said she was inspired by Swedish climate
change activist Greta Thunberg. Of course. Passers by managed to get footage of her protest,
and she also live streamed the event for 40 mins on the Extinction
Rebellion facebook page. Eventually, as you can see, Sophie was given
a choice by police; either come down voluntarily, or they would
dismantle the structure which she was still in it. Needless to say, she chose to lower herself
down, and was escorted, smiling, into a police car. A statement from Extinction Rebellion about
Sophie revealed that she had quit her job as a midwife because
climate change had made her terrified of bringing children into the
world, and she believed she could save more lives as a climate change
activist than as a midwife. Okay. The group also stated that this was just one
of “thousands” of more extreme but non-violent protests that will
take place in the coming days, as part of International Rebellion Week. This is a self-imposed
climate protest week by Extinction Rebellion where I guess they will
pose even more of an annoyance than they already are around the world, so, PSA to all morning commuters out
there; make sure you leave the house early. In their statement about International Rebellion
Week, Extinction Rebellion claimed, “All people of privilege
need to assess their priorities and take civil disobedience in
place of those who cannot, to force rapid systematic change.” This protest in Brisbane is certainly not
the first. There have been a
string of climate action protests in Queensland over the last several
months, including one in which protestors glued their hands to the
ground in the middle of the road in the CBD. That one was
particularly irritating. This upping the ante in protests is primarily
because of the construction of the Adani coal mine, which
protestors seem to think will single handedly end the planet, even
though Australia only produces about 1.3% of the world’s total
emissions, so even if we went to 100% renewable energy tomorrow it
would have such a miniscule effect on the temperature of the
planet as to be ultimately negligible, but, you know, whatever. However, the unique thing about Sophie Thompson’s
protest was that with her on the tripod she held a black
umbrella, upon which was painted, “Climate Denial is Child Abuse”. Now, this is a tad hypocritical, or at the
very least shows a distinct lack of self-awareness, considering the doomsday
rhetoric from climate change alarmists in the media, popular
culture, and what’s being taught in schools is causing a rise
in anxiety among children and teens that experts are calling eco-anxiety. According to the Climate Psychology Alliance,
which is a group of psychologists working with the University
of Bath in the UK, they are receiving increasing reports from teachers,
parents, and therapists of terrified children exhibiting symptoms that
mirror clinical anxiety, cause by the fear being bred in them by adults
who should know better about the future of the planet. In other words, since children and teens don’t
have the life experience, perspective, or, you know, fully
developed brain to sift through and rationalise rhetoric like the
earth is burning, the world is going to end in 12 years, lives are in danger,
etc, they are living in a genuine state of literal terror that they
are going to die a premature death because of global warming. Along with the anxiety symptoms, these psychologists
reported kids wondering what the point is of going to school
or university if they’re not going to have a future anyway, and in
some the condition was so bad that they required psychiatric drugs to
manage their symptoms. And this Sophie Thompson has the hide to sit
there, dangling above the city, with a sign that says climate denial
is child abuse, when she and her climate change alarmist buddies are
responsible for the psychological abuse of little children and
teens by terrifying the living daylights out them to the point where some
of them need psychiatric drugs?! Are you kidding me?? The Climate Psychology Alliance isn’t the
only indicator of eco anxiety in children and teens. There are plenty of anecdotal accounts
floating around of adults dealing with the same thing in their own
children Effing pissed. Had a 10 yr in hysterical sobs about climate
change tonight, talking about killing himself because
his future is hopeless. These #climatechange terrorists targeting
children’s emotions should be changed with abuse. I know that. You know that. My 10 yr old will need convincing Not quite as dramatic but had to deal with
12 yr old certain there is no future. Long talk and time together at computer helped
ease his fear. This indoctrination is horrid A colleague, a single-parent mum who teaches
in Bangkok has told me of the difficulty she is having with and
profound concern she has for her 11 year old daughter who is beside
herself with worry for the same reason. Look, I’m going to make clear now what I
made clear in my last two videos. I am by no means a climate change denier or
sceptic. I am a
climate centrist; I’m willing to listen to both sides of the argument in
order to find the best possible solution. I am, however, against alarmism, extremism,
and apocalyptic preaching of any kind. It serves no practical purpose and is generally
wrong or exaggerated. And while there is dissent within the scientific
community about how to tackle climate change, which there absolutely
is, jumping to those catastrophic conclusions and exploiting the
innocence of children in order to galvanise adults into joining the
“cause” apparently for the sake of their kids is simply immoral and unhinged. Enormous social
justice fail to Sophie Thompson and her Extinction Rebellion
comrades right here. Speaking of children and climate change, Australia’s
very own ABC, our taxpayer funded television network, has
planted its stake very firmly in the ground on the issue of climate
change with their latest cheeky video featuring none other than Greta
Thunberg. Now, before we go on, I am as sick of talking
about poor Greta and this climate change stuff as I’m sure you
guys are of hearing about it, but, it is dominating the news cycle at the
moment, so I sorta have to go with. Anyway, this video features a fictional Greta
Thunberg support line for adults who are allegedly angry with Greta. Okay, so there are three big things wrong with this, aside from
the fact the ABC relentlessly claims not to be
biased to the left yet puts out content like this, but okay, whatever. The first problem is that it
portrays any criticism of Great as adults being angry with her. That’s not true, while some of the commentary
about great has targeted her Asperger’s and her looks, which
is unacceptable to do to anyone, legitimate criticism of her words
and her movement do not equate to simply being irrationally angry
with her. Second, the video indicates that the people
who are “angry” with Greta are the regressive left’s favourite
scapegoat; middle aged straight white men. And while they do include a couple of women
towards the end of the clip, it is quite obviously tokenism. This is
bigoted far left identity politics in action, there is nothing
sophisticated or enlightened about it, much as regressive leftists
think there is. Also, side note, on the issue of middle aged
white men allegedly being the ones predominantly criticising Greta
Thunberg, I have been one of the noisiest critics of Greta in Australia,
both on TV and on YouTube, and to be honest, I’m slightly
perturbed the ABC is giving me and other like me zero credit. Just a lil bit. The third thing wrong with the video, which
is the most important thing, is that it conveys the notion that
nobody is allowed to criticise Greta because she is a child. This is one of the most despicable things
about climate change alarmists; they are happy to put children and teens on the front line of their movement
and dismiss any criticism of those kids as “attacking” a child. The bottom line is this. If you are a minor, and you put yourself out
there in the political arena of ideas, which is a very adult arena, and
insist you are taken seriously by adults who agree with you, as they
would another adult, then you have to be prepared for adults who
don’t agree with you to also take you as seriously as they would an
adult. You can’t have both. And again, while some of the digs at Greta
have been very personal and as such highly inappropriate, legitimate
criticism of her movement and her actions is not “attacking
a child”. It’s treating
Greta with the respect she demands by taking her ideas seriously and
engaging with them on an intellectual level. So, to any climate change alarmists who shriek
IMPRESSION “How dare you attack a child!” whenever any dissenters
open our mouths, your logic is inherently flawed. Either Greta and the rest of the
climate change kiddies are to be taken seriously in the adult realm of
ideas by both sides, or they are to be dismissed as children who
don’t know any better. Huge social justice fail by the ABC on this
one. Unfortunately, I’ve talked so long about
the first two topics that we don’t have time for a bonus topic. But tune in next time; you might
get lucky.

The disarming case to act right now on climate change | Greta Thunberg

Translator: Akinori Oyama
Reviewer: Peter van de Ven When I was about eight years old, I first heard about something
called climate change or global warming. Apparently, that was something
humans had created by our way of living. I was told to turn off
the lights to save energy and to recycle paper to save resources. I remember thinking
that it was very strange that humans, who are
an animal species among others, could be capable of changing
the Earth’s climate. Because if we were,
and if it was really happening, we wouldn’t be talking
about anything else. As soon as you’d turn on the TV,
everything would be about that. Headlines, radio, newspapers, you would never read or hear
about anything else, as if there was a world war going on. But no one ever talked about it. If burning fossil fuels was so bad
that it threatened our very existence, how could we just continue like before? Why were there no restrictions? Why wasn’t it made illegal? To me, that did not add up. It was too unreal. So when I was 11, I became ill. I fell into depression, I stopped talking, and I stopped eating. In two months, I lost
about 10 kilos of weight. Later on, I was diagnosed
with Asperger syndrome, OCD and selective mutism. That basically means I only speak
when I think it’s necessary – now is one of those moments. (Applause) For those of us who are on the spectrum, almost everything is black or white. We aren’t very good at lying, and we usually don’t enjoy
participating in this social game that the rest of you seem so fond of. (Laughter) I think in many ways
that we autistic are the normal ones, and the rest of the people
are pretty strange, (Laughter) especially when it comes to
the sustainability crisis, where everyone keeps saying
climate change is an existential threat and the most important issue of all, and yet they just carry on like before. I don’t understand that, because if the emissions have to stop, then we must stop the emissions. To me that is black or white. There are no gray areas
when it comes to survival. Either we go on
as a civilization or we don’t. We have to change. Rich countries like Sweden
need to start reducing emissions by at least 15 percent every year. And that is so that we can stay
below a two-degree warming target. Yet, as the IPCC
have recently demonstrated, aiming instead for 1.5 degrees Celsius would significantly
reduce the climate impacts. But we can only imagine
what that means for reducing emissions. You would think the media
and every one of our leaders would be talking about nothing else, but they never even mention it. Nor does anyone ever mention the greenhouse gases
already locked in the system. Nor that air pollution is hiding a warming so that when we stop burning fossil fuels, we already have an extra level of warming perhaps as high as
0.5 to 1.1 degrees Celsius. Furthermore does hardly
anyone speak about the fact that we are in the midst
of the sixth mass extinction, with up to 200 species
going extinct every single day, that the extinction rate today is between 1,000 and 10,000 times higher than what is seen as normal. Nor does hardly anyone ever speak about
the aspect of equity or climate justice, clearly stated everywhere
in the Paris Agreement, which is absolutely necessary
to make it work on a global scale. That means that rich countries need to get down to zero emissions
within 6 to 12 years, with today’s emission speed. And that is so that people
in poorer countries can have a chance to heighten
their standard of living by building some of the infrastructure
that we have already built, such as roads, schools, hospitals, clean drinking water,
electricity, and so on. Because how can we expect
countries like India or Nigeria to care about the climate crisis if we who already have everything
don’t care even a second about it or our actual commitments
to the Paris Agreement? So, why are we not reducing our emissions? Why are they in fact still increasing? Are we knowingly causing
a mass extinction? Are we evil? No, of course not. People keep doing what they do because the vast majority
doesn’t have a clue about the actual consequences
of our everyday life, and they don’t know
that rapid change is required. We all think we know,
and we all think everybody knows, but we don’t. Because how could we? If there really was a crisis, and if this crisis was caused
by our emissions, you would at least see some signs. Not just flooded cities,
tens of thousands of dead people, and whole nations leveled
to piles of torn down buildings. You would see some restrictions. But no. And no one talks about it. There are no emergency meetings,
no headlines, no breaking news. No one is acting
as if we were in a crisis. Even most climate scientists
or green politicians keep on flying around the world,
eating meat and dairy. If I live to be 100,
I will be alive in the year 2103. When you think about the future today,
you don’t think beyond the year 2050. By then, I will, in the best case,
not even have lived half of my life. What happens next? The year 2078, I will celebrate
my 75th birthday. If I have children or grandchildren,
maybe they will spend that day with me. Maybe they will ask me about you, the people who were around, back in 2018. Maybe they will ask
why you didn’t do anything while there still was time to act. What we do or don’t do right now
will affect my entire life and the lives of my children
and grandchildren. What we do or don’t do right now, me and my generation
can’t undo in the future. So when school
started in August of this year, I decided that this was enough. I set myself down on the ground
outside the Swedish parliament. I school striked for the climate. Some people say that I
should be in school instead. Some people say that I should study
to become a climate scientist so that I can “solve the climate crisis.” But the climate crisis
has already been solved. We already have
all the facts and solutions. All we have to do is
to wake up and change. And why should I be studying for a future
that soon will be no more when no one is doing anything
whatsoever to save that future? And what is the point of learning facts
in the school system when the most important facts given by the finest science
of that same school system clearly means nothing
to our politicians and our society. Some people say that Sweden
is just a small country, and that it doesn’t matter what we do, but I think that if a few children
can get headlines all over the world just by not coming to school
for a few weeks, imagine what we could all do
together if you wanted to. (Applause) Now we’re almost at the end of my talk, and this is where people
usually start talking about hope, solar panels, wind power,
circular economy, and so on, but I’m not going to do that. We’ve had 30 years of pep-talking
and selling positive ideas. And I’m sorry,
but it doesn’t work. Because if it would have, the emissions would have gone down by now. They haven’t. And yes, we do need hope, of course we do. But the one thing we need
more than hope is action. Once we start to act,
hope is everywhere. So instead of looking for hope, look for action. Then, and only then, hope will come. Today, we use 100 million
barrels of oil every single day. There are no politics to change that. There are no rules
to keep that oil in the ground. So we can’t save the world
by playing by the rules, because the rules have to be changed. Everything needs to change — and it has to start today. Thank you. (Applause)

Climate Change Alarmists Have Gone TOO FAR!

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well. So, climate change activism is all
the rage. At the September 20th strikes for climate
change, about four million people in 150 countries went
on “strike” for climate change. Also, the United National general Assembly
Climate Summit took place on September 23 in New York, where
world leaders came together to discuss the predicament of the
planet, and just what we should all do about it. As I’m sure you all know, the climate strikes
were inspired by sixteen- year-old climate activist, Swedish Greta Thunberg
and her School Strike for Climate Change. She also spoke at the UN climate summit,
delivering an impassioned speech which had her holding back what
looked like tears of anger. She was even filmed giving Donald Trump
a filthy look when he turned up at the summit I don’t think he
saw it though, and if he did, I don’t think he’d care. Now, on the surface, this activism seems all
well and good. I mean,
it’s common sense to want to protect the environment. And what
better than people exercising their right to free speech by gathering
in peaceful protest for a cause that matters to them? I am all for all
of that. However, despite their presentation as the
enlightened class who are willing to sacrifice life and limb to save
the world, climate change activists, or more to the point, climate change
alarmists, often have a sinister ulterior motive, or total lack of
empathy, or both, which they hide under the mantle of “working for the
common good”. See, many of these activists are actually
extremists, who are violently opposed to considering anyone else’s views,
and will go to any lengths to implement what they believe is
the correct way of doing things. There is a very Machiavellian streak to them
that is often ignored by the media, which is not surprising
since the mainstream media is full of climate change alarmists
posing as journalists. So, having observed the past six months or
so of climate change activists, from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
to Greta Thunberg to the Extinction Rebellion protestors in
Brisbane, Australia who lay on their backs and glued their hands to the
road in the middle of the city to protest the Adani coal mine, I’ve
decided to sit down and take stock of this group of people who are becoming
increasingly, dare I say it, radicalised. Now, to be very very clear, this video is
NOT about my opinion on climate change, or whether or not climate
change exists. I am not a
denier or a sceptic, I am a climate centrist who is interested in and
willing to listen to all sides of the argument so we can come to the
best possible solution. I’m not pushing any agenda here. All I want to do is highlight the fact
that many of those who claim to be acting in good faith, and purely
for the good of the planet, are in actual fact doing no such thing. I
don’t like extremism, or radicalism, or alarmism, no matter where or
who it comes from, children included. I especially dislike tribalism and cultish,
doomsday prophesying. All of
which is characteristic of today’s climate change activist movement. So, I’m going to do what I do best, and
call them out. Or at least start
to; I think this might be two videos worth. If you’d like me to further
drag the bad behaviour of climate change alarmists, let me know in
the comments, because trust me, I am more than happy to do so. One of the most glaring issues with this group
of ideologues is their do as I say, not as I do attitude, especially
among the wealthy ones. Which is a lot of them, actually; radical
climate change activists can often afford the consequences of radical climate
change action. See, they tend be from the “progressive”
class, who, according to a 2018 study of America’s political landscape
called Hidden Tribes, are the most likely political tribe to be earning
a salary of $100,000 USD or more. As such, they can afford the higher power
prices that come with renewable energy. They can afford to have their incomes slashed
in half by taxes and not lose any quality of
life. And for those young
people who are part of the climate alarmist ranks, they’re often
university students who expect to be taken care of by the state
anyway. Or, in the case of Greta Thunberg and her
adolescent-led climate movement, children and teenagers whose parents
feed them and pay the bills. None of these activists have any concept of
the ramifications of large-scale climate change
action. As the gilet jeune, or yellow vests protestors
in France said of Macron and his cronies when they proposed
a fuel tax, the elites are thinking about the end of the world, whereas
the yellow vests and those they represent are thinking about the
end of the month. Nevertheless, the global elites tend to sneer
the little people who point this out to them, and continue to preach
about “doing better”. Which would be fine, if they all did better
themselves. But a lot of
the time, they don’t. Take, for example, Prince Harry and Meghan
Markle. The Duke and
Duchess of Sussex are well known for their opining about climate
change. Which is why so many eyebrows were raised
last month when it emerged that Harry, Meghan, and their
little son Archie had taken four private jets in an eleven-day period. Now, private jets emit more tons of carbon
dioxide per person than your average commercial flight. Their first trip is estimated to have
generated about six times more carbon dioxide per person than a
scheduled flight. The second trip generated an estimated seven
times more. And while it was explained away as serving
the family’s unique security needs, that excuse came crashing
down when, days later, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their
little ones Prince George and Princess Charlotte, took a commercial
flight, Loganair to be precise, to Scotland and back. True also of the do as I say not as I do attitude
are the celebrities who attended the fabled annual “Google summer
camp”, a celebrity summit held at the Verdura Resort in Sicily
to discuss the dangers of climate change. The A-listers only three-day congregation
is organised by Google co- founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and the
guest list included, as well as Prince Harry, Barack Obama, Leonardo
DiCaprio, and Katy Perry to name a few. However, it seems that, like Prince Harry
and Meghan Markle, these global elites have a
little trouble practicing what they preach. The Italian press reported that 114 private
jets were expected to show up to the resort, which would have projected
100,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Along with the gas guzzling
private jets were a number of gas guzzling private yachts. You can
see how this stuff leaves a bit of a bad taste in the mouths of your
average Joe or Jolene, right? Not very motivating. Then of course, there was the recent 2020
Democrats steak fry in Polk County, Iowa, in which seventeen of the
2020 candidates took part in frying 10,500 steaks. Participants included Joe Biden, Kamala
Harris, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Beto O’Rourke, Andrew
Yang, Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar. The thing is, this jolly occasion comes after
weeks of climate change doomsday prophesying from the Democrats, including
from the candidates in attendance. Yang stated at CNN’s 7-hour climate change
town hall that “it’s good for the environment, it’s good for your
health if you eat less meat.” Harris and Klobuchar have both supported reshaping
dietary guidelines to encourage less consumption of
red meat, and Harris even suggested putting climate impact labels
on food. Bernie Sanders signalled that he supported
the idea of a “meat tax” to lower meat consumption in order to tackle
climate change, while Beto and Buttigieg have both supported a carbon
tax to balance emissions from the meat industry. And yet there they are, with their
big smiling faces, frying up 10,500 steaks. Okay then. Another very large problem with climate ideologues
is their unashamed abuse of children. I’m guessing most of you are familiar
with Greta Thunberg. Just a few months ago, she was a lone
teenager sitting outside the front of Swedish parliament buildings
every Friday to “strike” for climate change action. Fast forward, and she’s leading a global
movement of young people and talking to world leaders about her list
of climate demands. Only,
Greta isn’t driven just by youthful vigour and innocent teenage
idealism; she is, very regrettably, driven by a sense of genuine fear
and panic, that she is more than happy to project onto everyone else
This constant state of terror she lives in is very much in part because
of her history of mental and neurological health problems. She has
autism and Asperger’s, she has a history of depression, and anxiety,
she has OCD, she had an anxiety-induced eating disorder at the age
of eleven, and she also has selective mutism. Now, ordinarily, a girl with that kind of mental health rap sheet
would be protected from this climate alarmism. She would be counselled out of her fear and
worry to ensure she can enjoy some quality of life. Instead, she is being indulged and
exploited by adults who should know better as a convenient mascot
for climate change activism. Why? Because she is a teenager, and
girl, and she has Asperger’s. This makes it very very difficult for opponents
to criticise her ideas and actions, lest they be accused of attacking
a child. As this very
sensible person put it When you can’t defend your
position, march children onto the front lines and dare your
opponents to attack them. However, it isn’t just Greta’s mental
health that has induced the constant state of terror she lives in. It is also because she is only
sixteen, and does not yet have a fully developed human brain or
adult sense of perspective. This is why we don’t allow children and
teens below eighteen to vote. With very few exceptions, they are not fully
equipped to rationalise information and stimuli they receive as either
fact or hyperbole. And
given the fact adult climate change alarmists have very deliberately
upped their rhetoric over the past year, it’s no wonder more and
more children and teens are running spooked by the alarmist nature
of what they are being fed. For example, in May this year, The Guardian
updated its house style guide in terms of how it reports on climate
change. In order to make
everything seem more catastrophic, the phrase “climate change” is
to be swapped for climate emergency, climate crisis, or climate
breakdown. Global warming is now to be known as global
heating, and the term climate sceptic is to be abolished and everyone
who is not an alarmist is to be called a climate denier. Anyway, this rhetoric from
the Guardian is mirrored by other media outlets, celebrities,
politicians, even the Pope. Now, if you’re an adult hearing this stuff,
you have the capacity to sift through it, and work out whether the
people saying this are trying to push an agenda or get a response. However, a kid,
Aspergers or not, is generally unable to do that because they don’t
have the life experience or healthy cynicism that comes with
adulthood. As such, if you tell a kid that the world
is going to end in 12 years, or that the planet is going to die and we’re
all going to be underwater or the earth is burning…they will genuinely
believe those things. They take everything very very literally,
and that kind of language understandably terrifies them. This is not speculation. The Climate Psychology Alliance, or CPA, who
are a group of psychologists working with the University of Bath,
have reported an increasing number of children suffering from “eco-
anxiety”. The symptoms mirror chronic anxiety, but are,
of course, caused by the existential terror these children are
feeling over the perceived threat of climate change. The group feels so strongly about this that
they are campaigning for anxiety caused by fear for the future of the
planet to be officially recognised as a psychological phenomenon. In fact, symptoms in some children are so
profound that the CPA reported they needed psychiatric drugs. And all because a bunch of
ideologically driven, irresponsible adults can’t be bothered to find a
child-friendly way of explaining themselves. And even if they could be bothered, they won’t,
because it’s far too convenient for them to have little adolescent
foot soldiers towing the line, ready to pick up the extremist mantle
when they mature. I
hate to sound like a cliché, but all I can say is Whether climate alarmists intended to terrify
children into a state of clinical anxiety to the point where they need
psychiatric drugs I don’t know, but I’m guessing the most sociopathic
of them view it as a happy accident. And they would be loving the fact Greta Thunberg
has further added to the hysteria by getting up at the UNGA Climate
Summit and doing this Well, as a few people have said, she’s right
about a couple of things. Yes, she shouldn’t be up there, and yes,
adults have stolen her dreams and her childhood…just not in the
way she thinks they have. This is nowhere near the extent of the bad
behaviour of climate change alarmists. We haven’t even got to the economic ulterior
motive driving the most Machiavellian of them…so stay tuned for my
next video. It’s going to be wild.

Tucker: Climate protests are not about the environment

>>WELCOME TO “TUCKER CARLSON TONIGHT.” MILLIONS OF SCHOOL CHILDREN ACROSS AMERICA. IN FACT, AROUND THE WORLD SKIPPED SCHOOL TODAY. THEY WEREN’T PLAYING HOOKY. THEY WERE, INSTEAD, PARTICIPATING IN A COORDINATED LEFT WING POLITICAL PROTEST. IT WAS CALLED CLIMATE STRIKE SO NATURALLY MSNBC WAS THERE TO CHEER THEM ON.>>NEW YORK CITY IS THE HOME BASE FOR THESE PROTESTS. SCHOOL OFFICIALS, PUBLIC SCHOOL OFFICIALS ARE ALLOWING NEARLY 1 MILLION STUDENTS TO CUT CLASSES.>>SOME OF THE SIGNS BY THE WAY I HAVE SEEN SO FAR FOR THIS RALLY ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.>>I’M NOT IN FAVOR OF ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO SKIP CLASS. IF THERE IS A CAUSE THAT IS IMPORTANT, THIS IS IT. SO GOOD ON YOU FOR GOING OUT THERE AND TELLING PEOPLE WHAT REALLY MATTERS. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AND THOSE LIKE YOU AROUND THE WORLD.>>Tucker: CONGRATULATIONS ON SKIPPING SCHOOL. THROUGHOUT THE DAY NEWS ANCHORS ASSURED THEIR VIEWERS THAT THE STRIKE WAS IN FACT BEING LED BY THE KIDS. THEY WERE LYING, OF COURSE, LIKE ALL ACTIVIST MOVEMENTS CLIMATE STRIKE BY ADULTS FOR POLITICAL PURPOSES OBVIOUSLY. THE OTHER LIE YOU HEARD TODAY THE STRIKE WAS ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT. IT WAS NOT ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT. THE MAIN GOAL OF THE PROTESTERS IN THIS COUNTRY FOR EXAMPLE WAS TO IMPLEMENT ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ’S GREEN NEW DEAL. YOU WILL REMEMBER FROM JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO THAT THE GREEN NEW DEAL IS NOT ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT. IN FACT, OCASIO-CORTEZ’ CHIEF OF STAFF CONCEDED AS MUCH. WE’RE QUOTING NOW WE REALLY THINK OF IT HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE ENTIRE ECONOMY THING, END QUOTE. THAT SHOULDN’T SURPRISE YOU. THE ENVIRONMENT MOVEMENT ITSELF HAS ALL BUT GIVEN UP ON THE ENVIRONMENT. DON’T BELIEVE IT? LOOK AROUND. IS OUR COUNTRY CLEANER THAN IT WAS? NO, IT’S DIRTIER AND MORE CROWDED AND IT GETS MORE OF BOTH OF THOSE THINGS EVERY YEAR. THE LEFT DOESN’T CARE. THEY ARE CHEERING IT ON. WHY? BECAUSE THEY WANT POWER. AND IN CLIMATE CHANGE THEY FOUND AN EMERGENCY BIG ENOUGH TO JUSTIFY GRABBING MORE POWER. IN FACT TAKING CONTROL OF EVERYTHING. DON’T BELIEVE IT? CHECK OUT THE MANIFESTO OF YOUTH CLIMATE STRIKE THAT’S ONE OF THE GROUPS LEADING TODAY’S STRIKE. THE DOCUMENT CALLS FOR, AMONG OTHER THINGS, STATE OWNED BANKS, SINGLE PAIR HEALTHCARE. AFFORDABLE HOUSING, IS EXPANDED RIGHTS FOR SEXUAL MINORITIES, ET CETERA. NOW, YOU MAY AGREE WITH THOSE POLITICAL GOALS OR YOU MAY DISAGREE. WHAT DO THEY HAVE TO DO WITH THE ENVIRONMENT? OBVIOUSLY NOTHING. BUT WHATEVER, FULL SPEED AHEAD. BERNIE SANDERS AMONG OTHERS IS NOW DEMANDING THAT THE UNITED STATES BEGIN ADMITTING WHAT HE CALLS CLIMATE REFUGEES IN TO OUR COUNTRY. MAYBE IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD. THAT WOULD INCLUDE EVERYONE SOUTH OF MIAMI OR NORTH OF BUENAS ARIES ALL NOW HAVE A RIGHT TO MOVE HERE BECAUSE CLIMATE. WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT PASSING CONGRESS, YOU ASK? WELL, RIGHT AROUND ZERO. CONGRESS WILL NEVER PASS A LAW ALLOWING THAT. AND SO THAT MEANS IN ORDER TO GET WHAT THEY WANT, PROGRESSIVES WILL HAVE TO BYPASS CONGRESS NOT TO MENTION VOTERS THEMSELVES. AND THEY WOULD LIKE TO DO THAT. WATCH AS COLORADO SENATOR MICHAEL BENNETT EXPLAINS THAT THE MAIN THING IN THE WAY OF HIS CLIMATE AGENDA IS, YES, DEMOCRACY.>>I THINK THIS IS A TEST NOT WELL-UNDERSTOOD BY SOME OF THE CANDIDATES IN THE CASE AND NOT WELL-DEBATESIDE OUR DEMOCRACY UP TO THIS TASK? AND THAT IS A REALLY NONTRIVIAL QUESTION BECAUSE I MEAN IT CLEARLY ISN’T RIGHT NOW.>>SO FAR WE HAVE NOT. WE HAVEN’T BEEN. AND WHEN YOU LOSE A NATIONAL RACE AS WE DID IN ’16 TO A CLIMATE DENIER, THAT CREATES A REAL CONCERN.>>Tucker: IS OUR DEMOCRACY UP TO THE TASK? IF YOU ARE EVEN ASKING THAT QUESTION, YOU ARE MISSING THE POINT BECAUSE DEMOCRACY IS THE POINT. DAMN DEMOCRACY SAYS THE LEFT. STANDINGED IN THE WAY OF US GETTING DETAIL OF EVERY LIFE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT. THAT IS THEIR POSITION. IN THE MEANTIME THOUGH THE LEFT HAS A BACKUP PLAN. IT’S THE SAME AS ALWAYS BEEN. PROPAGANDA. ANOTHER DEMAND OF THE YOUTH CLIMATE STRIKE GROUP IS WHAT THEY ARE CALLING, QUOTE, COMPREHENSIVE CLIMATE CHANGE EDUCATION. THEY WANT IT FOR CHILDREN AGED 5 TO 14. 5 YEARS OLD. WHY SO YOUNG? WELL, BECAUSE WE ARE QUOTING HERE: IMPRESSIONABILITY IS HIGH DURING THAT DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE, END QUOTE. IN OTHER WORDS, BRAINWASHING IS EASIER WHEN THEY’RE LITTLE. AND THEN YOU HAVE THE MODERN LEFT’S CLIMATE AGENDA. NO DRINKING STRAWS NO. AUTOMOBILES, NO MEAT NO DEMOCRACY. IN THEIR PLACE, ENDLESS PROPAGANDA AND A PARADE OF 15-YEAR-OLD RED GUARD YELLING AT YOU TO STAY IN LINE. THAT’S WHAT THEY ARE PROMISING.

Greta Thunberg’s emotional speech to EU leaders

I want you to act as if
the House was on fire. I have said those words before
a lot of people have explained why that is a bad idea. A great number of politicians
have told me that panic never leads to anything good
and I agree. To panic, unless you have to,
is a terrible idea. But when your house is on fire
and you want to keep your house from burning to the ground,
then that does require some level of panic. We are in the midst of
the sixth mass extinction and the extinction rate
is up to 10,000 times faster than what is considered normal,
with up to 200 species becoming extinct
every single day. Erosion of fertile topsoil,
deforestation of our great forests, toxic air pollution,
loss of insects and wildlife, the acidification of our oceans. These are all disastrous trends
being accelerated by a way of life that we can
in our financially fortunate part of the world see as
our right to simply carry on. [Applause] Our house is falling apart
and our leaders need to start acting accordingly because
at the moment they are not. If our house was falling apart
our leaders wouldn’t go on like you do today. You would change almost
every part of your behaviour as you do in an emergency. If our house was falling apart,
you wouldn’t hold three emergency Brexit summits
and no emergency summit regarding the breakdown
of the climate and the environment. [Applause] The EU elections are
coming up soon. And many of us who will be
affected the most by this crisis – people like me –
are not allowed to vote. Nor are we in a position to shape
the decisions of business, politics, engineering, media,
education or science because the time it takes for us
to educate ourselves to do that simply does no longer exist. And that is why millions
of children are taking to the streets, school-striking for the climate
to create attention for the climate crisis. You need to listen to us,
we who cannot vote. You need to vote for us,
for your children and grandchildren. What we are doing now can soon
no longer be undone. In this election you vote for the
future living conditions for humankind. And though the politics needed
do not exist today, some alternatives are certainly
less worse than others. And I have read that some parties
do not even want me standing here today because they so
desperately do not want to talk about climate breakdown.
[Applause] To do your best is no longer
good enough. We must all do
the seemingly impossible. And it’s OK if you refuse
to listen to me. I am, after all, just a 16-year-old
schoolgirl from Sweden. But you cannot ignore the scientists
or the science or the millions of school-striking children
who are school-striking for a right to a future. I beg you:
please do not fail on this. [Applause]

The Biggest Lie About Climate Change

This, is the story of how your safety and future finances were robbed without you ever really noticing. Back in the 70s, Everyone was like (peace), but there was also the creation of an energy company called Exxon. They were obsessed with what we are still obsessed with now; innovation. So, the oil company Exxon, decided to invest in science. Scientists hired by Exxon, again Exxon’s very own scientists, were the first to present a series of groundbreaking papers explaining that burning fossil fuels will influence the climate as the carbon dioxide released will cause a greenhouse effect Isn’t it ironic, don’t you think, that oil companies discovered climate change. This happened right in the early 1980s just as the price of oil was decreasing, so the higher-ups at Exxon chose to ignore the information and instead focus on growing the business. They did ask the scientists to keep looking into it. In 1982, their own scientists again came back, this time with more thorough research saying “yep, it was worse than they thought.” Based on what Exxon was planning to do in regards to fossil fuel extraction would warm the climate, cause sea levels to rise, and increase deadly droughts. Humans will suffer effects, which will be indeed catastrophic so the scientists pitched a major reduction in fossil fuel combustion. An email from Lenny Bernstein, a former employee of Exxon wrote: “In the 1980’s, Exxon needed to understand the potential for concerns about climate change to lead to regulation of…potential projects. They were well ahead of the rest of the industry in this awareness.” If Exxon wanted to be innovators so bad, maybe they would have taken this moment to diversify the energy sector- invest in alternative energy sources, but instead they decided to lie. To you, to me, and to your mom. It is now the 1980s, and for the first time an internal memo is released at Exxon that says, they “need to start to emphasize the uncertainty of the scientific data around climate change.” They begin to start going against their very own science and plant the seed for what we now know as climate change denial. Here is part of an internal memo from Exxon at the time. “There is currently no unambiguous scientific evidence that the earth is warming. If the earth is on a warming trend we’re not likely to detect it before 1995.” One of the most frustrating parts of this story is that Exxon did believe their climate change science. Right at this time they started to build drilling platforms in the ocean a little bit higher up to deal with the rising sea levels they predicted. They also started to plan to drill in the Arctic, because as they knew the sea ice in the Arctic was going to melt. In the late 80s, the effects of climate change began to become apparent. Time magazine had a picture of the planet in shackles due to climate change on their cover, as the scientific impact of burning fossil fuels became public knowledge. At the time, 80% of Americans claimed that climate change was an issue, and accepted that it was caused by the burning of fossil fuels. It was also not a political issue. Here, is Republican President George Bush senior on the campaign trail in 1988 after a year of severe heat waves killed thousands of Americans: “Don’t say these problems are too big, that it’s impossible for an individual, or even a nation as great as ours to solve the problem of global warming, or the loss of forests, or the deterioration of our oceans. My response is simple; it can be done, and we must do it. Let’s not forget all that we’ve accomplished, all that we’ve accomplished since America first concentrated its attention on preserving the environment, under a Republican administration, back in 1970.” This is the time when the oil companies started to get scared of that (evil regulation from the government) so they started to really jack up their campaigns to increase climate change denial. They became inventive, they actually created the OP ad that we now sometimes see in newspapers, where it kind of looks like an article but it’s actually fully a paid advertisement. So this is one of the op ads that they paid for in the liberal New York Times. “One of the brighter hopes with the climate change debate has to be the benefits achieved through technology.” Notice how they used the word “debate” and notice how they sort of make it seem like, oh climate change might be a good thing because we’re gonna invent new things to cope. They secretly paid scientists to promote fake science. In an article called climate change: a degree of uncertainty, the first line wrote: “The debate on climate change has been long, complex, and intense.” This is of course not true, because according to their own science that there wasn’t really a debate at all. Quite a short explanation that was really quite simple it’s that, the burning of CO2 creates a greenhouse effect that warms the earth. In 1997 Lee Raymond, the CEO of Exxon at the time actually decided that in the presentation he was going to say that, no in fact according to their science the earth was cooling. This was a full lie. Again he did this in a presentation in 1997, more than 20 years after his own scientists first broke the fact that the greenhouse effect is real, and the name of his presentation, boldly a bold lie was, “Is the earth warming? Does burning fossil fuels cause global warming?” Lee Raymond sucks, because he also is the person who began to make climate change a political issue. Lee Raymond persuaded George Bush, the younger one, to go against his campaign promise and take carbon dioxide off the list of pollutants. These are one of the first times that we actually see climate change become a political issue, a side of left or right, and at the time the Republican Party was under a lot of pressure from these big oil companies, and they released this Memo: “The scientific debate is closing [against us] but not yet closed. There is still a window of opportunity to challenge the science.” Later in the memo it reads: “Should the public come to believe that the scientific issues around global warming are settled, their views about global warming will change accordingly. Therefore we need to continue to make the lack of scientific certainty a primary issue of debate”. All of this hard work paid off. In 2017, around 90% of Americans did not know there was a scientific consensus on global warming. 52% of Americans think the threat of climate change has been exaggerated. This lack of knowledge helped Rex Tillerson, who became the CEO of Exxon after it merged with Mobil to become Exxon Mobil, to sign a 500 billion dollar deal to explore for oil in the rapidly thawing Russian Arctic. For this plan, he was awarded the Russian order of friendship. Global warming and climate change is caused by our immense burning of coal, gas, and oil for energy. This causes the carbon release to combine with oxygen in the atmosphere to produce CO2, carbon dioxide, which traps heat that would have been radiated back out into space. Due to this, the extra heat trapped near earth is equivalent to the heat from four hundred thousand bombs the size of what was dropped on Hiroshima, being collected in our atmosphere every day. By 2100, the rising sea levels will cost the world 14 trillion dollars. 9 of the 10 deadliest heat waves in recorded human history have occurred since the year 2000. Since the 1970s, 60% of the world’s wildlife has been killed. If we continue with our current greenhouse gas emissions, by 2070 tropical regions that now get one day a year of oppressive humid heat will get between 100 to 250 days per year. 100 million trees died in California in the past 10 years, and studies show that by 2050, if temperatures rise the way they are predicted, a quarter of the earth will experience extreme droughts and desertification. Stephen Hawking gave humanity a deadline of a century to leave earth, as it may be the only way to save ourselves. And who is going to be able to afford this? Maybe Lee Raymond, as his retirement package from ExxonMobil was a mere $400 000 000, for his impressive work of making money for the company at your expense. Climate change is real. I was lied to, you were lied to, your parents were lied to. These oil companies did all of this because they were short-sighted. They wanted to make money for themselves, but we need to think about the future. We as young people are the ones who are left to kind of figure out this mess. It’s not necessarily our fault, this is a huge injustice. All these lies and deceit that these companies did to the public consciousness are unfair, but we have to figure out what we do now. In our next video we’re gonna talk about hope. So, one thing is that a lot of people are challenging and figuring out how the law should get involved with these companies. They should technically be sued for what they did. There’s the green New Deal happening in America, What exactly is that what does that mean for such a large economic power? And we’re gonna highlight some of the amazing, innovative ways that science is now trying to figure out how to clean up this mess. Thank you so much for watching, you can subscribe to this channel we’re gonna release the video in the next few weeks. We just wanted to make this video because we make our animated videos on Thursdays where we try and get people interested in science and understanding a critical thought and learning about how the world works around us, but there’s Also these other things going on within the science community that we need to talk about and that’s what this video was, so we hope that you like it. Follow me on Instagram and Twitter, smash out like button, hit that subscribe and we’ll see you next week. Peace 🙂

Greta Thunberg is a TERRIBLE Role Model | Climate Change

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well. So, I want to have a little chat
about the regressive left’s latest in vogue personality, radical climate
activist Greta Thunberg. Greta, now 16 years old, is known for
starting the worldwide School Strike for Climate change; when tens
of thousands of school students in more than 71 countries skipped
school to proverbially “strike” for climate change action. Greta started this initiative as a lone 15-year-old
out the front of a Swedish parliament building with a painted-on
wooden sign. Fast
forward eight months, she’s hailed as a role model for young people,
and heading what is being described as a global movement. The
teenager is travelling around the world, meeting with politicians,
diplomats, even the Pope, and hammering them with her simply and
bluntly delivered message; stop the emissions. The reason young Greta is in the news at the
moment is because she is currently traveling to New York City to
attend the UN climate conferences, but not on a jet plane, as ordinary
people would. Because of her strong stance on lowering emissions,
Greta doesn’t fly. Instead, she is travelling on a high-tech
yacht, fitted with solar panels and underwater turbines to generate electricity,
which caught the wind from the English coastline on August
14th. The journey in its
entirety will take two weeks. Now, the yacht idea is understandable, but
largely tokenistic. Greta’s
journey won’t actually save emissions because a crew needs to be
flown to New York anyway in order to sail the boat back to England. Very ironic. But look, I acknowledge Greta is attempting
to show people there are options other than air travel
for long journeys, and I commend her for putting her money where her
mouth is. But that’s
the key word there; “money”. What normal person on an average income has
the funds or indeed the time to sail everywhere by solar powered
yacht? Unlike a lot of
green activists, your average individual actually doesn’t have the
money to “save the world” in the way Greta and others are
proposing. As the yellow vest protestors in France put
it when protesting Macron’s fuel tax, the elites are thinking
about the end of the world, whereas they are thinking about the end of
the month. Simple. But I digress. It all ultimately sounds fairly harmless,
right? What
could possibly be wrong with a young person standing up for what
she believes in? Well, the advent of Greta Thunberg, and the
amount of breathless adulation she is getting from
the green left lobby is incredibly harmful. Not only to her, but to the thousands of other
young people who have been swept along in her wake. The whole thing reveals how
truly sociopathic the green movement has become in pushing
climate change alarmism. Before we go any further; let me be clear,
I am not a climate change denier, I’m not even a sceptic. I am a climate centrist; I’m happy to
listen to both sides of the issue and work to find the best possible
solution with minimal animosity or hysteria. This is not a video about
whether or not climate change exists. This about the green
movement, and the unethical lengths it will go to in order to get
people to believe the doomsday version of the climate change story. Greta Thunberg is the perfect instrument for
these activists, because she has the added benefit of being a teenager. That is, anyone who
criticises her gets the morality card pulled on them for allegedly
attacking a child. Well here’s the thing. If you are a young person
who is putting yourself into the very adult world of the political
arena, and asking to be taken seriously by adults, and in turn the
adults who support you insist to other adults that you should be
taken as seriously as an adult, then that young person has to be
prepared to cop the same criticism as an adult would in the same
position. You can’t have both. So, here is my criticism. Despite what the green movement continues
to insist, Greta Thunberg is a terrible role model for young people. This has nothing to do with her personally. On the contrary, I think
she’s a highly highly intelligent girl, with a big heart, who is certainly
very well read, and who genuinely means well. I do not think, as
others have suggested, that she’s a puppet. I think her work is all her
own, and that she means what she says. The reason she is a terrible role model is
because of her binary perception of the issue of climate change,
and the false reality of constant terror she embodies; a fantasy world
that she encourages other young people to live in as well. Her activism, while no doubt
very well intended, is detrimental to her own well-being, and to the
well-being of others. Let’s start with why this Greta-fever is
harmful to Greta herself. It’s
no secret she struggles with mental health, and neurological issues. Specifically, Asperger’s Syndrome, high
functioning autism, selective mutism, depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive
disorder. And before anyone jumps down my throat; no,
I’m not saying the fact the has mental health struggles and neurological
issues means she can’t be a role model. That’s a stupid assumption. There have
been plenty of great leaders and prophets throughout history who
have struggled with things like depression and anxiety. What I am saying is that the conditions Greta
suffers from lock sufferers in states of inescapable fear and
stress. Aspergers, autism,
depression, anxiety, and OCD? That’s a cocktail of ongoing worry for
Greta right there, and that’s without adding the fact that she is a
teenager. And when you’re a teenager you generally
don’t have the life experience, or even a developed enough brain,
to rationalise thoroughly enough to assuage your own anxieties. Can you imagine
the perpetual state of freaked out that that poor girl is in? It was this cocktail of worry that caused
Greta to become so fixated on climate change in the first place. She heard about when she was
around eight years old at school. She became very worried, eventually lapsing into a depression as a
result of the issue when she was eleven. And when I say depression, I mean she stopped
going to school, didn’t eat for two months, lost
10kg, showed signs of starvation, and refused to talk to anyone
except her parents and her little sister. Eventually, what made Greta feel better about
herself was going on this climate change quest. That possibly explains why her parents
have so readily gone along with it. I mean, after seeing your little girl
go through such terrible mental anguish for years and years, you’d
do anything to make her suffering end, wouldn’t you? Anyway, Greta says it is her Asperger’s
that makes her ideally suited to tackling climate change. That is, her condition causes her to strip
away social distractions and see the issue through a black and white
lens. Either you stop the emissions, or you don’t. But here’s the thing. Greta’s story may sound all rosy pink and
lovey dovey and hashtag stunning and brave. After all, everyone loves the
tale of the troubled warrior standing as the unlikely head of a cause
for the greater good. That’s why so many adults in high places
have sunk their claws into her and propelled her
to messianic status. But that’s not what they should be doing. Greta, while highly
intelligent and clearly well meaning, is a deeply, deeply troubled
young girl who has suffered terribly and for years with a host of
mental and neurological conditions which specifically cause sufferers
anguish and paranoia. As such, Greta is locked in a state of perpetual
terror, because of her worry about climate change. She is sick with fear 24/7. And I don’t
mean the with anxiety and sense of duty that adult climate change
activists feel. I mean literal, genuine terror that she is
going to die prematurely because the world is going to end. The responsibility of adults in these situations,
especially for kids with poor Greta’s troubles, is to deescalate
the child’s paranoia. In
the case of Greta, the reaction should be hey, yes, we have some
problems, but human being are very good problem solvers, we’re
good at adapting, we have the technology to fix this, don’t worry kid. But what’s happening here, is adults are
not only ignoring their responsibility, but validating Greta’s perpetual
terror by lavishing her with adulation, having her speak at UN conferences,
and deferring to her. Even the Pope told her to keep doing what
she’s doing. The result of this is that a girl who should
be counselled out of this state of fear so she can enjoy some quality
of life is being dumped into the spotlight and forced to bear the
cross of all humanity on her shoulders. I mean, what is that? Where is the duty of care, for
goodness sake? Who knows what long term psychological damage
this is doing? Greta’s raw honestly and blind sweetness
and goodwill is being indulged and exploited by adults who should
know better to further their own political cause. And make no mistake, climate change is
absolutely political, despite the shrill protestations of activists that it
isn’t. Climate change has been hijacked by the regressive
left because it is tailor made for their ideological prism. It’s a globalist cause in which
the individual’s needs are discarded for the good of the collective, at
it involves what is essentially a giant redistribution of wealth. Plus, it allows them to tap into their militant
morality complex; that is, if you’re not freaking out about climate
change and don’t support massive government intervention to fix the
problem, you are a fundamentally unethical person who does not
care about the future of your children. See? It’s like morality for dummies. Add to that the fact that if you express even
a shadow of a doubt about climate change, then you risk large
scale public ridicule, and in some cases professional sabotage. Dissent is not tolerated in the
ranks of the green movement. It goes beyond a political ideology;
climate alarmism, given its militant party line, apocalyptic preaching,
deference to a Saviour figure, and zero tolerance of debate, is, for
lack of a better word, a cult. Which is exactly why climate activists and
globalist diplomats have so greedily grabbed onto well-meaning little
Greta; it’s almost impossible to criticise her, as I mentioned
earlier. Greta is not only a
teenager, she’s a girl teenager, and she has Asperger’s. She’s an
intersectionalist dream. As such, the minute anyone opens their mouths
to say hey, I don’t agree with her, or what she’s doing, her
supporters respond with, “How can you criticise a little girl with Aspergers, you
monster?!” And while I have seen some totally inappropriate
things said about her looks or her autism, which should be roundly
condemned, nobody can even put forth a sensible critique
of her or her movement without provoking swarms of climate
change alarmist harpies painting you as someone who hates
children with autism. After all, what sort of monster would attack
a child who is just trying to save the planet? She is therefore the perfect weapon for the
green movement, and they are going to max that poor girl out,
damn the consequences to her well-being. As this person on Twitter so eloquently puts
it, “When you can’t defend your position,
march children onto the front lines so they can do it for you.” I’m not saying Greta Thunberg shouldn’t
be taken seriously, but there has to be a line drawn somewhere. While she does mean so
well, somebody who self-confessedly only thinks in black and white
about any issue, let alone climate change, is not a good leader. As
such, she’s a terrible role model for young people because she
completely rejects the idea of critical thinking. This terrible influence extends to her insistence
that going to school is secondary to activism, and by activism
I mean yelling at buildings. Also, she frightens the living daylights out
of her adolescent peers by insisting the world is literally going to
end in 12 years and that their lives are constantly at risk and existence
is futile, which is simply is not the case. I wish Greta Thunberg all the very best in
her crusade, I really do. She
is a girl who has suffered, and she deserves to be happy. But shame
on all the adults around her who are indulging this false reality of
terror she lives in, and double shame on them for encouraging in
other children and teenagers a sense of meaninglessness and despair
at thought that the planet is going to end so their lives no longer
have any purpose. At some point there has to be a duty of care.

Greta Thunberg to politicians: ‘We’re fighting for everyone’s future’

We know that most politicians
don’t want to talk to us. Good. We don’t want to talk
to them either. [Laughter] We want them to talk
to the scientists, instead. Listen to them
because we are just repeating what they are saying
and have been saying for decades. Just unite behind the science:
that is our demand. When many politicians talk
about the school strike for the climate, they talk about
almost anything except for the climate crisis. Many people are trying to make
the school strikes a question of whether we are
promoting truancy or whether we should go back
to school or not. They don’t want to talk
about it because they know
they cannot win this fight because they know they haven’t
done their homework but we have. Some people say that we are
fighting for our future. But that is not true. We are not fighting for our future. We are fighting for
everyone’s future. And if you think that we should
be in school instead, then we suggest that you take
our place in the streets, striking from your work
or, better yet, join us so we can speed up
the process. And I am sorry, but saying
everything will be alright while continuing doing nothing
at all is just not hopeful to us. In fact, it’s the opposite of hope. And yet, this is exactly what
you keep doing. You can’t just sit around,
waiting for hope to come. Then you are acting like
spoiled, irresponsible children. You don’t seem to understand
that hope is something you have to earn. And if you still
say that we are wasting valuable lesson time, then let me
remind you that our political leaders have wasted decades through
denial and inaction. And since our time is running out,
we have decided to take action. We have started to clean up
your mess and we will not stop until we are done. Thank you.
