  1. Just checked live TV, MSNBC is advertised Race Hate and Preaching Anti-American and Anti Civilization . MSNBC Ownership, Management and Employee are here by publicly charged with Sedition against the Nation, States and People. You all have the freedom of speech and everything you say and do will be held against you for all time. You must be held liable for every slander stated or replayed.

  2. Bet that 'post turtle' black activist doesn't mention who the traders and shippers were. Why? Follow the money. 1619

  3. Who are the current slave holders? The Democratic Party leaders of the cites like Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, etc. Ruining the family structure with their damaging welfare policies to buy votes while ruining the lives a millions of blacks. WAKE UP!!!

  4. These sisters came with the passion, intelligence, facts, and they brought the receipts! Good job all around!

  5. Why is the south such a pain in the xss? They dragged slaves here decades ago, and were still dealing with the issue today. Why? Why don't we call out the south for what they are? They created the so called problem (not a problem) and demand the north fix their problem. Is the education system lacking in the south, or are they being programmed different?

  6. MSMBS: “Hey let’s reopen some 400 year old wounds! Sounds great! Maybe if we sow enough hatred we can start another civil war! Oooh yeah, that would be so cool!”

  7. Slavery happened AFTER the Euro genocide of Native Americans–which is also missing in our history books. Hmmm… who exactly decided what version of history Americans would learn across the continent? For a "free people", we are sure controlled by some unseen powers that do not want us to learn, question, critically think, discern, grow in awareness and tolerance. Trump's type of regime and those who are financially back it and the GOP are the kinds of controls, most likely corporate controls, that have been foisted upon us. This is an excellent conversation and education for all Americans, but particularly radical white Americans who could use some humbling. With Betsy De Vos in charge of our education, I fear the next generations are really going to be dumbed down. Don't let it happen, America.

  8. She said it so perfectly "the hypocrisy of slavery in a country claiming to be so free was corrosive to us. We were not made whole when slavery ended!

  9. Stuff like this just makes more whites want to vote GOP. Calling folks racists just makes most of them double down.

  10. Some people believe that Black people are alright because we made something out of nothing, but that's far from the truth. Sincerely! Mic'19 American Descendents Of Slavery (ADOS) get involved!

  11. Talking more nonsense? Black man still crying? Let's get real and stop crying. Where does the word slavery come from? Well it comes from the Slavs, white people. The Slavs were the slaves under the Ottoman Empire. Have you heard of the Barbary slave trade? Probably not because your highjacked school system indoctrinates not educate. The Barbary slave trade was white slaves being abducted by the Arabs. The Arabs would pirate trade routes in the Mediterranean Sea and capture whites and enslave them. There were 1.5 million slaves in the Barbary slave trade. Now whites do not cry the Arabs must apologize forever. Whites do not say they are owed reparations. So now let's review the oppressed blacks. Let's look at the racist oppression they face here in America. Their oppression begins as soon as they turn on the lying tv. They are so oppressed that they openly cry anti white propaganda on a daily basis. They are allowed to be racist. Now let's look at at their so called oppression. They are given welfare, food stamps, section 8, college assistance, black student college fund, free phones, 13th amendment, healthcare, highest black employment rate in history, and last but not least freedom and opportunity!!!! Can anyone tell me which nation in their motherland would afford be them this? Which African nation is giving them a house and free food and free heatlh care if they can't afford it?
Well the answer is zero. So if the black man wakes up today with no job he qualifies for free everything yet in his mind he is oppressed? Again which of your nations of your people would provide this for you? All races experienced slavery quit crying. The victim mentality is what holds blacks down. The truth is slavery might not have been very humane, but would you prefer it never happened? If it never happened blacks would be over in their motherland living in poverty wishing and dreaming of coming to America. So I say to blacks….do you wish slavery never took place and which African nation do you wish you were in today?
    Exactly, so stop crying!!!!!
Trust me I wish slavery never happened. I would love for them all to be in their motherland. The great black countries they created are starving, poverty stricken nations that their people want to flee.

  12. More you didn’t learn , from 1619 first inslaved Hebrews American are the tribes of Judah , says 1741 maps by Emanuel Boyin royal map maker for Britain. Wikipedia him.

  13. This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; (2 Timothy Chapter 3) All Mankind is to blame … Wake up!!

  14. I need to see the name of the woman "Nichole Hannah Jones" and founder of this project. She is the star of this piece about "behind the scenes" about this NYT issue. Say her name. Write her name. Show it in those bottom of the screen words. What's her name again?

  15. It is not so much that America define slavery- but the fact it is a WORD- & HUMAN BEINGS were involved. If they had got rid of /buried/or condemned the word–then decided to
    treat ALL HUMAN
    BEINGS equal- (w/
    no regard to color) it
    would not be an
issue. THEY chose to decide ADOS were only 3/5ths human & therefore did not deserve to have equal rights or be treated humanely.

  16. Why y'all calling us "Africans" now? You called us Negros when we was slaves? Is that why you don't know who to pay reparations to?

  17. American should just go ahead and pay
The African Descendants of Slavery. We built, bled, and were in bondage for this country
    #ADOS
    #Reparations

  18. Dwelling on slavery is stupid. We declared our independence in 1776. The Civil War was fought 84 years later. In some places around the world slavery existed for thousands of years, and in some places it still exists. Why did it not last for very long in America? It went against our founding principles.

  19. Slavery started as part of the Spanish Inquisition… they always leave out that part of the “Puzzle” 😂😌✊🏾

  20. 400 hundred years later. Plz someone free these ppl all ready I'm so sick of hear bout this. Jesus plz free them already. poor white family didn't have slaves which was 95% of the ppl tht lived back them.

  21. The family's tht had salves was the Rick family's of blacks and whites of the day. Which oddly are the same family's always talking about it today.

  22. Dummy,We we’re here before the white man, we are indigenous!!!!! no fake indians, we were here and that rock landed on us! america has been here 230 years, so how have blacks been enslaved for 400 years? We were here, been here!!!!!

  23. REPARATIONS FOR THE SLAVEHOLDERS WHOSE SLAVES ARE TAKEN TO I.C.E. DETENTION CENTERS.
1519..CORTEZ JETTISONS SICK SLAVE FROM HIS SHIP AND LEVELS THE KARMA OF THE AZTECS..
ONE OF TWELVE SOLDIERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION WERE BLACK..MANY OWNED SLAVES.

  24. We need to stop talking about slavery and instead be talking about how a century of systematic government approved discrimination has defined America today. Discrimination that targeted black people in employment, education, housing, in just about every way possible way denied them the ability to attain wealth and thus inherit wealth. White Supremacy has been a self-fulfilling prophesy. We can't effectively speak that truth when we're blaming the problem on slavery rather than the systemic targeted racism that was the cause of slavery to begin with.
OBVIOUSLY slavery had an impact. You free slaves without any sort of compensation, that'll definitely have an impact for generations. The trauma, the lack of financial stability and security obviously will resonate for generations. But it's far harder to grasp that slavery is the reason why black people have such highly disproportionate rates of poverty than the fact that black people since slavery have been systematically targeted and denied the ability to attain and thus inherit wealth in the century after slavery.
Every American (I would hope) is aware of slavery. Not every American is aware of the systematic targeted discrimination of black people to prevent them the ability of attaining wealth. The overwhelmingly vast majority of Americans are unaware of the extent to which it occurred. I myself never learned about housing discrimination until I got into college.
You tell a conservative that black people should get reparations because of slavery, they'll laugh at you. You tell a conservative that black people should get reparations because of the last century of targeted systematic oppression denying black people the ability to attain and thus inherit wealth, the look of confusion and shame of them trying to desperately find an argument that will stick is… Priceless.
I'd love to watch Fox News become even more desperate than they already are in trying to defend the indefensible. So please, stop using slavery as the reason that we should consider reparations.

  25. In 1619 the US did not e exist .it was a british colony. Lets address who captured and sold them.and the black slave owners.it was the norm during the time . It was world wide practice .the irish faired no better.give them be reparations too.she is out there.

  26. I live in Chicago. How do I get my hands on the 1619 Project? I want to hold it, read it, think about it, pass it along to friends. How…

  27. Again with a false narrative when discussing the beginnings of America. The Spanish who with the English and the Portuguese and to the lesser but no less virulent, (French and Dutch) arrived in America and founded St. Augustine Florida almost a century before the English ever set foot in the Americas with their slaves. If you are going to confront the difficult challenge of examining   America's birth you must start  at the Beginning. You don't start a book on the third chapter. Native Americans were decimated by violence and disease and were displaced from their lands from North to South America. With all due respect to the African experience you must begin the story with the advent of the European in America if you are claiming such an audacious title to your project.

  28. I'm calling Bullsh&t.
there was no America in 1619…..that happened in 1776.
but in 1619, what they call America was really England…….the white people in America were English….& the English were the biggest slave traders, then the English define America today.

  29. A few years before the civil war began the census of 1860 shows there were no slaves in 19 states ( all in the North ). Reading through the original Ohio State Constitution of 1803, slavery was not allowed in Ohio. Many slaves fought on the side of the British during the American Revolution because they were promised freedom. Slavery was not allowed in the Northwest territories as specified in the Northwest Ordinance of 1787..

  30. I almost agree but they seem to forget to mention the Black Indians the Aboriginals who were first colonized before any of the Africans were brought in the original runaway slaves and had our land and farms taken away while we were sent on a trail of tears by the 1830s and tricked into treaties written in the new language and racially reclassified into colored people and negroes and blacks

  31. Remember: Black American WWII veterans were murdered on returning to this country because some evil devils felt like black folks thought they were as good as a Caucasian guy was after the war. These things happened and they happened in order without consequence.

  32. Nike= Hypocrite Slavetrader Pundits pay $2,- A DAY in Vietnam: https://youtu.be/rNErHYzZaxk
Thesis vs anti-thesis (struggle of classes) brings synthesis. WRONG Marx, Engels and all (national)socialists! Nature as God created is all based on harmony. ✝️ ‼️ ❤️ Men and woman are not fighting with each other toget a child!🤢

  33. And if you care about this where are you? Slavery still exists, it is horribly alive and disgracefully well. Korea is worse offender with many other nations nipping at their heels. https://qz.com/africa/1333946/global-slavery-index-africa-has-the-highest-rate-of-modern-day-slavery-in-the-world/
Most of the world Nations have been at one time or another involved in slave trade. Rome, Greece, India, Egypt, the Mayan empires, China, etc. and ect. and ect. Slavery has permeated ALL of history. If you really care do something about it’s existence NOW. You can’t change history but you can and should know about what is happening right now, today.

  34. This is what real privilege looks like https://obamawatcher.com/2019/07/malia-obama-arrested-at-the-us-border-daddy-made-it-go-away/ This is great.

  35. Wow, what a surprise. Almost as if it was coordinated in lock step with the media trying to create a race war for 2020. At this point the media is an all out danger to this country. Oh, and don’t forget, their were plenty of blacks who owned slaves as well as well as native Americans – quite large numbers too.

  36. Allowing the Jews who owned the West India Trading Company to bring third-world, low-IQ, low-drive people here was the worst event in American history. Just like most defective farm equipment, they're dangerous and need to be shipped back. Half our welfare and half our crime (over half our murders) come from 1/8 of our population. And all they do is whine, even though they should be thrilled they're not in Africa. Any who want to get away from us "evil, racist" huwite peepo, we'd gladly help you renounce your US citizenship and move one-way to the African country of your choice.

  37. 1619 in my hometown is my family history. I truly appreciate this project I'm very excited about this weekends events.

  38. I just read one of the articles and it was amazing, so shattering, and I believe sincerely that our democracy is done to the continued struggle of the black community. It's about time we understand that we are ALL in this together.

  39. Wow so raw the Truth has never been on display ever in history like this, You go sisters, they never wanted to learn their whole lives have stemmed from hand outs and not true success. To come from slaves to the White House is true Success.

  40. Rap music/HipHop was created (invented) in 1978/1979 (NY) from the Black race. The reason I can say this is because I seen & witnessed it with my own eyes as a kid, who loves music. I bet 100 years or more from now; the white race will take credit for the creation or invention of hiphop/rap music. It is the continuation and the distortion of history from the Black race, by white individuals, like Trump and his racist supporters; who would create this type of propaganda to lessen the contributions of the Black race to our society. Similar to the way the history of 1619 and beyond, up until the current events of today. They always say if u fail to learn your history, u r doomed to repeat history. Trump & his white Nationalist supporters will never learn the truth, because they choose not to learn, and continue to spread propaganda and alternative facts. Ask artists like Little Richard & Chuck Berry, who created Rock & Roll. The Black artist who created the Blues, down South & Jazz, for the intellectual fans (crowds). The Black race deserves more credit for all of it’s contributions (that were stolen or laws changed to shut blacks out), it has made to society’s throughout history.

  42. The contribution of blacks in America is never-ending. They never should have been slaves to begin with. Indians are to this day treated as slaves and made to live in poverty. Looking back into History we see that even the Jews began as slaves, or rather from parents who were slaves. More focus like this needs be made to make people aware of how long 400 years of slavery is.

  43. My problem with this is that the Jamestown Colony failed. It was first, but it didn't succeed. They had slaves, but Jamestown wasn't the beginning of the US. In fact, the colony that landed at Plymouth Rock should be considered a failure as well. They only barely survived because of the knowledge of the Native Americans. The US truly begins with the arrival of the Puritans in the 1630's.

  44. Very insightful and informative. I haven't heard of anyone having read Before the Mayflower and it impacting them in the same manner as it had me. I read it in 1996 and gave it to my stepson when he was just a boy. Thank you NYT & staff. You have done us all a solid and I am grateful to you for it.

  45. US was founded in 1776 and Slavery lasted until 1865. 89 years of Slavery is a small price for the African people to skip from Stone age to Industrial age. One could make the argument that slavery is only possible if a civilization lacks so far behind in technology that a simple flintlock pistol could make generations work for free under your command.
