Why Be Catholic and Not Just Christian?

Hi, my name’s Fr. Mike Schmitz and this is Ascension Presents. I get asked a lot of times, “Father, so you’re Catholic, right?” and I go, “Yeah, I am.” They say: so what’s the difference, what’s the main difference between, like, the Catholic Church, and any of the other Protestant denominations or non-Catholic churches. Maybe it would be this, maybe it would be authority. And I know that’s a bad word, many of us we don’t like it, we’re like, blah, authority! That doesn’t sit right with me. What do you mean “authority”? I would say this: That the Church has the ability to teach us. They teach authoritatively. The Church has the ability to teach us in the name of Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father, that the Church has the ability to tell us, this is true, and this is not true; that the Church has the ability to establish doctrine. And I’m not talking about some invisible kind of like universal body of believers. I’m talking about the Church that Jesus himself founded back in Matthew chapter 16. Jesus looks at Simon and says, “Simon, your name is now Peter, ‘rock’. And upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” He goes on to say: “I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven.” Now, here’s the interesting thing that you may or may not know. Jesus came to establish the kingdom, right? But it’s not an invisible kingdom. Why? Because we can look at Jesus, as the king, establishes the kingdom, but when He says to Peter, you know, Simon, now Peter, he says “I give you the keys to the kingdom etc. etc.” He’s referencing Isaiah, the book of the Prophet Isaiah. And in Isaiah, there’s this role, in the kingdom there’s a role, there’s the king obviously, but there’s also the prime minister, the one who is the overseer. And when the king is gone, this person is in charge, this person has the authority of the king. It says that in Isaiah chapter 22. And it’s almost word for word what Jesus gives to Peter. The keys to the kingdom of heaven. He gives the Church a visible structure, and an actual hierarchy. And he says you can actually teach now, teach in my name, the Holy Spirit will lead you to all truth to be able to teach in my name. And this is exactly what happens. In the Acts of the Apostles chapter 15, they’re this big crisis, and the crisis is, the apostles had been evangelizing the Jews. So, basically they were all Jews. And they realised, Jesus is the fulfilment of Judaism, Jesus is the Messiah we were waiting for. So they’re sharing the good news with Jewish people. It was awesome. But then they realised, because Peter had a vision, and Paul was called to do this too, that they were called to bring the Gospel to non-Jews. Which is amazing and good because I am a non-Jew, and I get to be brought in, right? To the people of God. The question came up, OK, so when you evangelize Jews all you need to get is baptized because, they’re already circumcised. They’re already in the Old Covenant. So in order to be brought into the fulfilment of the Covenant, the New Covenant, they just have to be baptised. But if you’re evangelizing Gentiles, question, do they first have to be circumcised, and then be baptized? Or can they just be baptised? Now you can see at least two ways why this would be a very important question. One is if you were an adult Gentile man this would kind of be a big question he would want answered, ‘do I have to do this? Or is this kinda optional?’ You want that resolved ahead of time. But secondly, even more importantly, if I need to get circumcised in order to get baptised, and I’m not, that means I’m not saved. Like, “Do we have to do this in order to be saved?” is the big question. The problem is, Jesus never taught about that, and the Bible never teaches about this. And this is the problem, the problem with a thing called “Sola Scriptura'” or “Bible Alone”. You know, one of the pillars of the Reformation was this idea that “Bible Alone” or “Scripture Alone” you don’t need the church you only need “Bible Alone”. What about when the Bible doesn’t teach something? What do we do? Well, what happened was in Acts chapter 15 the apostles came together and again I’m not saying some loose kind of invisible church, but the actual structure of the Church. Those apostles, the people that Jesus himself called, Peter as the pope, Paul and Barnabas, to have this body of the Church. And the Church gets together, and they discuss, and they debate, and they pray, and then they decided. They said, “it seems to the Holy Spirit, and to us, that we should not impose this on Gentiles, they do not have to be circumcised in order to be baptized.” And, in that moment you can see in the Bible that the Church, again, the visible Church, the structure of the Church, governance of the Church has the ability to teach. And not just to teach, but to teach definitively, not merely optionally. And if you’re a student of history, you see that this is not the only time, in fact the Church has to do this again and again and again, because people pick up the Old Testament and they pick up the New Testament Scriptures, which also the Church gave us. Another video by the way. And they say, “Well I’ve come to the conclusion that Jesus isn’t really God … I mean he’s clearly God. I mean he came to earth, he rose from the dead, he’s clearly God. I think he only looked like human.” And that was a heresy called Docetism, in fact it was one of the earliest heresies, was that Jesus was fully God, but he wasn’t fully man. In the Church, again not this generic, invisible Church, but the actual, physical, structure or hierachy of the Church said, “That’s incorrect.” Then other people came along and said, well he’s fully human but maybe he’s only partly God, like ‘quasi’ God like the Aryans. And the Church came together at the Council of Nicaea 325 (A.D.) and they said, “No, Jesus is fully God, and fully man.” Two natures, human and divine, in one divine person. Now, every Christian in the world believes that. Why? Because in some way, whether they admit it or not, every single Christian in the world believes that the Catholic Church has the authority to teach. Every Christian who believes in the Trinity, that God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-equal, co-eternal that no one is greater than the other believes that, because of the authority of the Catholic Church. Because the Church came together at the Council of Nicaea, the Council of Constantinople, and all the other Church Councils, and declared this. That this is the interpretation of the text. And we need that, here’s the crazy thing, we need that so badly, OK, here’s a little mental exercise. Imagine that you are God, for some of you this will not be the first time today that you did this. And it is so important to you, that the people you created know who you truly are, that they don’t get you wrong. So what do you do? Well, you don’t want to overwhelm them with your beauty and power and glory and truth because then they might have to serve you out of fear. You want them to fall in love with you, and you want them to know who you truly are. So you start small, you start with this guy named Abraham, or Abram, you know he changed his name to Abraham. You bring him slowly and slowly and then his family, you reveal yourself slowly to his family and then to his tribe, and then to his people, you call the Jewish people, the chosen people of God and you slowly reveal yourself to them and very carefully, because you don’t want them to get any part of you wrong. And then in the fullness of time 2,000 years ago, you yourself actually become one of them. You become a human being. And in that, you reveal who you truly are, and you don’t do it as the most powerful one, or as the greatest one, or as the richest one, you take the lowest place as a humble, poor person. And you die as a criminal. You let yourself be overwhelmed by suffering and death. Why? Because it’s so important to you as God that people know the truth and depth of your heart. Then you rise from the dead, you send your Holy Spirit to the apostles and then they write down all these things. And, while they’re writing these things down, you preserve it. Why? Because it’s very important to you as God that they write down exactly what you want them to write down, and no more and no less. And then, over the course of years, as they’re translating it, as they’re copying it you, by your Holy Spirit you guide that copying, you guide that translating, so that they don’t get you wrong. Why? Because it’s very important to you as God that no one gets you wrong. Here’s this infallible book, right? It’s a book that has, it’s without error. Now, it’s not without scientific error, because it’s not a scientific book, it’s a book of poetry, it’s a book of truth, it’s a book of goodness. (There’s a whole other video about that). The point is, you compile this infallible book through fallible people. But you compile this infallible book, now, if you were God, would it make any sense for you to then say, “OK” to anyone, “Here’s this infallible book, boom, take it, read it, tell me what you think.” No you wouldn’t. Why? Because an infallible book, without an infallible interpreter, is a worthless book. Right? The Bible is infallible, but without an infallible interpreter it’s like, that’s why you have 30,000+ denominations of Christianity in the United States. Because, you know, someone picks it up and says, ‘Oh, here’s what I think.’ someone else picks it up, ‘no no no, here’s what I think.’ That’s one of the reasons why G.K. Chesterton back in the day he had said, while he was Catholic, they said he said: Because I don’t need a church who can tell me when I’m right, I need a Church that will tell me where I’m wrong. So if you ask, you know what’s the big difference between the Catholic Church and all the non-Catholic Christian denominations?’ I’d say, when it comes down to it, I think what it comes down to is right there. Authority. From all of us here at Ascension Presents, my name’s Fr. Mike. God bless.

So what is left to monotheist Christians to do in order to PRINT a Scripture based in early Christianity besides biting us each other or calling us apostates after more than 100 years of Jesus being entrown in heaven since 1914 ?

Opening a museum of Triniterian Bibles in Bethel, tainted by the man of illegality, in the house of God proclaiming He is god ?

Would it be like trusting in Jehovah's appointed king guidance after 105 years later of being entrown since 1014 by reprinting Triniterian Bibles for our ministry ?

  2. God is the ultimate authority and Jesus is our only mediator. We don’t need a pope to interpret the Bible for us; we need information to see who was writing it, why they were writing it, who they were writing it to, etc. to come to a rational conclusion of the interpretation.

  3. Isiah 22:15 This is what the Lord, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, said to me: “Confront Shebna, the palace administrator, and give him this message:

16 “Who do you think you are,
and what are you doing here,
building a beautiful tomb for yourself—
a monument high up in the rock?

17 For the LORD is about to hurl you away, mighty man.
He is going to grab you,

18 crumple you into a ball,
and toss you away into a distant, barren land.
    There you will die,
and your glorious chariots will be broken and useless.
You are a disgrace to your master!

19 “Yes, I will drive you out of office,” says the LORD. “I will pull you down from your high position.

20And then I will call my servant Eliakim son of Hilkiah to replace you.

21 I will dress him in your royal robes and will give him your title and your authority. And he will be a father to the people of Jerusalem and Judah.

22 I will give him the key to the house of David—the highest position in the royal court. When he opens doors, no one will be able to close them; when he closes doors, no one will be able to open them.

23 He will bring honor to his family name, for I will drive him firmly in place like a nail in the wall.

24 I They will give him great responsibility, and he will bring honor to even the lowliest members of his family.”

25 But the LORD of Heaven’s Armies also says: “The time will come when I will pull out the nail that seemed so firm. It will come out and fall to the ground. Everything it supports will fall with it. I, the LORD, have spoken!”

  4. Well you do have a good point about authority being needed, and it is a big issue that a lot of people have, such is the mysticism movements of today, but the scripture is clear that it is sufficient for all teaching, all correction, and all reproofing. The Bible does have the answers, the Bible makes the Trinity clear, not the Catholic Church, the scripture Does have all the answers, be careful not to reflect the things that pharasees did with the code of the tradition of the elders, because Jesus was clear that he didn't respect that

  5. Love all the Protestant idiots hating in the section. Must really be a miserable bunch lives you lead without the real Church of Christ in your lives.

  6. I’m quoting you here-
Infallible book translated by an “infallible interpreter”! Are you kidding me? Who should deem themself infallible besides the triune God? Who else is of the same immeasurable holiness? Your pope, priests, bishops or cardinals? So you’re saying your church leaders (aka man- a mortal being) is infallible and that only your church leaders(aka man) can and should decipher the Word of God for us because we just cannot comprehend it for ourselves? Well isn’t that convenient if I’m going to follow a cult. .. and also contradicts scripture! 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
I got out of the RCC 28 years ago! Run don’t walk and seek the scriptures with the help
of the Holy Spirit and you will find the way the truth and the life in Christ! Sola Scriptura! Amen!

  7. I hear you, Father Mike. But please tell me what we ordinary believers are to do when the Church betrays us? How do I get over Pope Paul VI's sell-out to the Communists when he agreed to 'fire' our heroic Cardinal Mindszenty as they demanded? And how do I justify Pope Francis' betrayal of the Catholic Church in China? Does that not weaken the Church's magisterium? Did Saint Paul sell the Church in Corinth to the Romans? Did Saint Peter bow to Caesar and get a cushy Senatorial position, perhaps? No! Talk to me!

  8. So the one who created the heaven’s and the earth and everything in between has a mother ?? & if we speak to his mother or his saints it’s easy for us to talk to God this sounds like blasphemy to say the most high has a mother & like God has partners to worship other saints it’s just plain and simple , This is Why I Am a Muslim 💯

  9. catholic is false! Lord Jesus Christ is our Savior not religion. Holy Bible is the TRUTH alone not the rituals or traditions of men. Repent, believe in the Gospel

  10. You are all ignorant and not listening to the word of Jesus when he said it does not matter what denomination you are (so if you are a Catholic, Anglican or Orthodox), it matters if you believe in him and that he died on the cross for us. He doesn’t like us fighting each other over which denomination is the best, but rather harmonising it because he says “You are the church, so spread my word”.

  11. Difference is that Catholic Church wants you to baptize babies so they can claim them right away and Christians baptism adults ones they know what they doing .. catholic has more followers also because is easier to be one 🤔

  12. Immaculate conception is an important doctrine in the Catholic faith That is God took away Mary sin at conception Early church fathers knew that Mary would pass original sin to Jesus. So they said God took away Mary's sin at conception. However; that would make 2 persons without sin; and the word God says there is only one person without sin, and that's Jesus I commend the early church fathers, for they had the right process, but chose the wrong one !!!!

  13. The guy is obviously knowledgeable, but this is so messed up.
I see comments like "I want to convert to Catholicism" or "proud to be Catholic" and that doesn't even make sense.
You either belong to Christ and therefore a CHRISTian, or you don't. Your denomination is just a religious label which Satan delights in. He gets you so confused and blinded by religion, so that you don't have know who you are, what you are and if you're even saved through the real Jesus.
Also, he says that we don't know if we're saved (3:15). Back then, Jesus spoke clearly about repentance and faith in Him. For us, who are privileged to have the Word, it is plain and clear in Ephesians 2:8-9: "8 For it is by GRACE you have been saved, through FAITH—and this is NOT from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 NOT by works, so that no one can boast."
Baptism is vital, but the thief that was hanging besides Jesus was not saved nor baptised, yet he asked Jesus for forgiveness (through that expressing his faith in his authority as the son of God), and Jesus replied (Luke 23:43): “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

So with all due respect, as I am sure Father Mike is more knowledgeable than me when it comes to scripture, God made it clear and simple. Do not be deceived by different denominations as the narrow path is indeed narrow. Read your bible and see that there is only one name under heaven that can save you and that is Jesus.

  14. Christianity isn't a denomination. Christianity is believing in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord according to Jesus' words in the Bible. This is where the name Christian comes from. Denominations are organizations/cultures that go by different names like Mennnonite, Luthern, Pentecostal, United, Methodist, Baptist, etc – they all believe in some part or all of Christianity but in and of themselves are not Christianity. In this sense Catholicism is also like these denominations. They teach Salvation but also teach other beliefs that are not necessarily based on Jesus Christ or the Bible. These teachings may or may not help people to live their Christian life but when they insist that a Christian must follow the organizations own teachings, this is not Christianity.
Jesus didn't require us to join an organized group in order to be Christian. Joining any one of these organizations will not get anyone into heaven. Asking Jesus Christ into your life and to forgive your sins, accepting His forgiveness is how a person becomes a Christian. We are saved by grace alone, there is nothing we can do or say to earn our way to heaven. Only the gift of salvation by Jesus Christ.
We need to remember who we are in Christ, rather than who we are in a denomination which claims authority over its members. Many times I've heard – We as Mennonites believe…. We as Catholics believe….We as…… and on and on. We use our religions as our back bone. Seldom do we hear, As a Christian I believe…… and as a Christian first, our statement should be "As a Christian I believe." Our freedom is in Christ, not in a man-made religion. Christ said not to become enslaved again to man's rules but to be free in Christ. If a person joins an organization (church) remember first who you are in Christ – always. Everything else is beliefs and interpretations by others wrapped around Christianity – this, if we're not careful can again enslave us.
I'm not saying a person shouldn't join any one of these organizations. Just remember the church is only as Christian as the people themselves.

  15. Hello, my name is Jon Michaels. I am from the United States. I would like to share a new song called: JESUS that may be perfect for your service this coming Christmas. It's stunning! Thanks! Jon Michaels.

  16. I became Catholic in 1986 after 18 years as a Protestant.

A few months ago, I started attending a Baptist Church because I wanted to be with evangelicals who studied the Bible. It's tough to find even one evangelical Catholic who studies scripture here in San Antonio. Nonetheless, I continued to ask God how important the Catholic Church was for salvation while attending this Baptist Church. I let everyone know I was Catholic.

I soon realized that in most cases, Bible study without the guidance of the better scholarship of the Catholic Church and it's centuries of collected wisdom is pretty close to useless for many reasons.

In short, the entire Protestant doctrine of 'sola scriptura,'-which is the very basis for their faith-is totally bonkers! It's based on a very childish, unstable, and unlearned reading of II Timothy 3:16 that only says that scripture is helpful. That's a long, long way from saying that it's the supreme authority! I Timothy 3:15 says that the Church is the "pillar and ground of the truth." To me, THAT sounds like authority.

OK. But let's say that's true. Let's say the Bible is the ultimate authority.

The frosting on the cake for me was when these conceited Baptist know-it-alls (they know more than the pope, apparently) WROTE in their printed Baptist Bible study quarterly recently that "probably nobody kept the law better than the Pharisees." I've heard this typical Protestant canard before.

These Baptists claim to believe in scripture and Christ. It's their ultimate authority.

And yet their teachers missed all those places where Jesus accused the Pharisees to their face of breaking the Ten Commandments? They missed it where Jesus told them, "If you really believed in Moses, you would believe in me (John 5:46)? You call them 'keepers of the Ten Commandments when these clowns committed the world's worst murder? That's downright LOONY! The Pharisees only made a PRETENSE of law-keeping and you bought it, hook, line, and sinker–even after centuries of time to find out the real truth! How dumb can you get? Who needs such trashy scholarship?

The Christian walk is all about HOLINESS; it's not about goodness as many mistakenly believe. Good people are a nickel a nation-load. You can't be HOLY (not to mention sane or think correctly) without the Church that Christ founded. It's virtually impossible.

  17. I love Catholics, but the Apocrypha (7 extra books in the catholic bible) is full of false doctrine and should be rejected as the word of God. Purgatory is man made, infant baptism is man made, and it is a faith plus works doctrine. That's literally saying Jesus was not enough. I pray that your eyes be opened to this. Love you guys!

  18. I've always been a faithful child of God but finding the Catholic Church has nutured the relationship with my faith and Ive found a peace I longed for. I and my family are better since we joined the Catholic Church.

  19. First off to whoever it may concern this is not a hate comment but the contrary it is a loving comment with concern. that being said here it goes ->
When Jesus called Simon_ Peter from Simon HE was calling Simon Little Rock, and when Jesus said Upon "This Rock " Christ was referring to Himself because He is The Rock.
in fact Jesus is the Rock that Moses struck and water gushed out, Moses Struck it twice because of his frustration with his people and poor Moses had to pay the price he could not enter the Promised Land on Earth.
    ❣❣
Now this is what Jesus said about addressing a man as "Father" or as "Papa" _ Abba Father.
📖"And don't address anyone here on Earth as 'Father', for only God in heaven is your Father." Matthew 23:9.

    🕇
“Don’t let people do that to you, put you on a pedestal like that. You all have a single Teacher, and you are all classmates. Don’t set people up as experts over your life, letting them tell you what to do. Save that authority for God; let him tell you what to do. No one else should carry the title of ‘Father’; you have only one Father, and he’s in heaven. And don’t let people maneuver you into taking charge of them. There is only one Life-Leader for you and them—Christ.
    🌿
When Christ Jesus was praying in the garden before His death He addressed the Father as "Abba Father" _ (Papa) we also are to call God Abba Father that's what God is our Abba Father He is our Father in Heaven, and God does not give His glory to anyone else. And since Jesus is God He's always had that Glory and He was glorified again on the Earth.❣🕊

  20. The Holy Bible tells us everything God wants us to know.
Besides ☞📖"Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written. John 21:25
    🌿
So everything God gave us in His book The Bible all 66 books are the voice of God_ we don't need anything else outside of that and the Holy Spirit God Himself who lives in us will guide us and teach us through His Word, Praise God for that! ❣

  21. Reformed theology does NOT teach that God brings the ELECT kicking and screaming, against their will, into His kingdom. It teaches that God so-works in the hearts of the Elect as to make them willing and pleased to come to Christ. They come to Christ because they want to. They want to because God has created in their hearts a desire for Christ.

  22. I think of videos such as this one as an important learning tool (for which I am duly grateful). I would call it nuts and bolts Catholicism. But…I have to laugh by the end of this video, as I would never answer the question, “Why be Catholic?” by pointing to the Church’s ability to teach authoritatively.

I essentially question its authority to always teach infallibly. I believe we focus so much on the Church as divinely inspired that we forget it is also an all too human institution, and therefore prone to both failure and error.

So, I am left with a couple of questions with emphasis on the word nub quest.

Is there any role for a holy dissent within the Church? I would think there has to be. I think the lives of certain saints and the life of Christ points to an answer. But even if I were certain of the answer, what does it mean? What are the ramifications? How should it manifest?

Also, of course, if I reject Fr. Mike’s answer, and I do, I am left asking the seminal question, “Why be Catholic?” Even if I don’t have the answer at this time, the conviction resides in my heart that I should remain Catholic. I’ll go with that.

  23. Just because the church can have a say in teaching doesn’t mean that the ~Catholic~ Church is the only church that has a say in teaching… that was a bit of a leap. Also just because Catholics have a certain way of interpreting the Bible (just as all other Christian denominations do) doesn’t mean that their interpretation is
More “authoritative” or superior. I’m totally open to conversation though. I love that you’re spreAding the word of God, even if we have different interpretations of it.! Xoxooxo. Gods blessings :)!

  24. Just started a Catholic YouTube channel. Ascension Presents is one of the channels that really inspired me to do so. Thanks Fr. Mike for your amazing commentary as always!

  25. Catholic church is Paganism wrapped with Christianity. Nice Masonic black and white robe. With the square over his Adams Apple

  26. Luke 11:27-28 "As He was saying these things, a woman from the crowd raiser her voice and said to Him. "The womb that bore You and the phone who nursed You are blessed" and He said, "EVEN MORE, those who hear the word of God and keep it are blessed!"

  27. Question : If your a Catholic, please tell me where do we find Paul's Gospel by which we are saved and will be judge by?
My final authority does not come from man or the teachings from within a building but by the words of God found in the King James Bible.
    Colossians 2:8 KJV
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

  28. That was an interesting video. You made some good points.

As for Jesus Christ's dual nature, He revealed this Himself in the gospels many times. We don't need to look to the church to settle this.

  29. When I'm unable to gain any more information from my pastor or church leaders within the Protestant churches, it's time to search for more foundation, more knowledge, more history. When digging deep into the scripture, I find that so many denominations lack historical structure… It's sad. It's not right, and it's vague. Now, I'm not saying that one has to be a Catholic to come to faith in Jesus Christ, but I am saying that it is a valuable and knowledgeable group of people who have the capability of giving you a historical rundown from the very beginning of the Church itself. And I'm a Protestant!! I'm not sure if it's the "right" church, but I feel drawn to it, feel a pull, and all I can do is pray, and focus on Him and His guidance. God bless

  30. I feel really sorry for people that give up genuine Christianity to enter into satan's church…AKA the Roman Catholic Church. In Catholicism, a person can gain salvation and lose it many times depending on the number of sins committed, their severity, and how much of the sacraments they participate in–in order to regain grace which enables them to do good works by which they are justified. Furthermore, justifying grace is infused into the Catholic upon baptism and via the sacraments.  This grace can be gradually lost through venial sins or forfeited all together with mortal sins.  in other words, it's very unbiblical!! Roman Catholics preach tradition over scripture all day everyday.

Catholicism teaches that the process of maintaining one's salvation, participation in the Eucharist (CCC 1416), having proper contrition (CCC 1452), and participating in penance (CCC 1468, 1496) are means by which the proper level of sanctifying grace is maintained, so that salvation is not lost. What a crock!!! Jesus taught none of this as a condition for salvation.

Therefore, I've reproduced the biblical response here.  But, we must again make it clear that salvation is a free gift of God (Eph. 2:8), that is by faith (Rom. 5:1), and is apart from our works (Rom. 3:28, 4:5; Gal. 2:16).

"For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, 30 since indeed God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith is one," (Rom. 3:28-30).

"What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about; but not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? “And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.” 4 Now to the one who works, his wage is not reckoned as a favor, but as what is due. 5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned as righteousness," (Rom. 4:1-5).

"Nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified," (Gal. 2:16).

So we can see that salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone.  Do Catholics know that adding works to salvation is condemned in scripture? Guess not.

  31. Jesus didn't invent the Catholic church. That's ridiculous. The church was established in the book of Acts at Pentecost. Catholicism didn't exist until the time of Constantine and then it was Paganized by Constantine to bring Sun worshippers into the church. Let's not forget the unbiblical stance that Catholics hold towards salvation. Catholics believe that you can only be saved through the Roman Catholic Church because the Roman Catholic Church is the only church. Roman Catholics also teach that Mary is essential for salvation as is the Eucharist and all of the sacraments. All of these things are absolutely essential for salvation. Funny thing is though is that Jesus doesn't teach any of these things concerning salvation in the New Testament. None of them!! Genuine Christianity teaches that salvation is salvation by faith alone. Catholicism is purely Works based salvation which is unbiblical.

Galatians 2:16 makes that very clear.

  32. “The infallible book without the infallible interpreter is a worthless book.” I agree with that but if your saying, that infallible interpreter is the catholic because God gives you that authority, I totally disagree cause God says in

    1 Corinthians 2:10-12
“But it was to us that God revealed these things by His Spirit. For His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. 11No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. 12And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.”

Paul clearly says that its the Holy Spirit of God who reveal things from our Heavenly Father, the Holy Spirit is the infallible interpreter of God’s Infallible Word and those who received God’s Spirit will also gain wisdom and knowledge to understand the word of God.

Are you telling us that only the catholic church has the Holy Spirit of God because only you have been given by God that kind of authorization?

What I do know is that when anyone who repent for their sins, and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, you will receive the Holy Spirit of God.

So, its not only the catholic church but everyone who receive the Holy Spirit of God has the power to understand God’s Infallible Word, and has the authority to share the Gospel because it is never us doing any of those things but the Spirit of God dwells in us.

  33. Whoever claims that he "accepts" Jesus must accept everything that He has taught and spoken, and not just half or less.

If Jesus said that whoever eats HIS body and drinks HIS blood has eternal life, and WHO rejects that truth, then the believer does not accept Jesus, even though he claims this 10000 times.

For Jesus said, believe the one whom the Father has sent. He who does not believe will be damned.

So let us believe and trust Christ in everything, why reject a truth that he himself spoke and asserted?
Whoever CONSCIOUS, READY-willing and finally VOLUNTARY rejects this recognized truth, can not be saved according to HIS words and consequently is condemned.

  34. Thank you Father for this excellent explanation. I have been enjoying your video presentations tremendously. God bless, Mary

  35. Ahh brother you seem so sin-cere. Very creative interpretation. No where does it say that Jesus is the one the Old Testament speaks of? That is church lore. Some believe that the Catholic Church is evil. The Romans pulled in the Jew/ Hebrew text and slapped it with the Greek(?) text and called it the Bible. It’s a Roman construct. You seem like a nice zealous man with some small incomplete education. Bless you. Please keep studying history.

  36. * VATICAN OPENLY ADMITS IT EMBRACES BABYLON *

"It is interesting to note how often our Church has avoided herself of practices which were in common use among pagans…Thus, it is TRUE, in certain sense, that some Catholic rites and ceremonies are a reproduction of those pagan creeds" (The externals of Catholic Church, her government, ceremonies, festivals, Sacramentals and devotions, by John F. In Stanley's History, p.40 "the Popes of Vatican Emperor of Rome, inheriting their power, their titles from PAGANISM

  37. I think the Catholic Church gets the Jewish guilt right…. but I don’t understand the part about worshipping Mary or confessing to another person when we can go right to God. I don’t understand the rosary when God said He doesn’t want idle prayers. I hope I didn’t offend anyone that wasn’t my intention, I love many Catholic people and I love Jesus Christ. I was born Jewish and was born again more than 15 years ago but I would love to learn if any Catholic person would be so kind as to lovingly address my points.

  38. So much hate in the comments. “You people are wrong and my people are right.” We are more separated in this world than ever. It’s sad that two groups believe in God and yet are so separate. Yet both groups are so adamant in their faith that they do not want to change their ways. Both groups are so in love with serving God that the idea of leaving their faith to choose something else might be considered quitting.

  39. The Catholic Church was good in the beginning, and then lost any right to teach after the Inquisition, crusades, and the heresies of maryolitry, infant baptism, confession, and the priesthood. However by then we had all the correct doctrine. I was a Catholic for 18 years and I was never taught repentance or the gifts of the holy spirit. That is messed up. We answer to God and scripture alone, no man has complete authority. Everyone should take what the Catholic Church says with a good many grains of salt

  40. Show me in the Bible ware it states to celebrate Christmas , Easter or day of the dead? I believe in God and I am a Christian, just not Catholic.. Why does the Catholic Church not celebrate the holy days that God commands you to obey in the Bible.. also why doesn't the pipe teach or preach it's followers to not eat pork? If it's because it's in the old testament and not the New testament then do we not obey the ten commandments.

  41. GOD MAY FORSAKEN THE WORLD IN THE NEAR FUTURE. Jesus even became in this feeling of being let by God. so don't expect the sinner not to be forsaken.

  42. more historial facts! the false roman cattle-holics have ever been a Jesus fearing doctrine of Christians! its poor pagan and the horrible catholic history speaks for itself! the truth shall be told in the name of JESUS @

  43. I am struggling. Why does the Catholic not discuss the actual text of the Bible? Instead you (we) talk about the peripherals that surround the scriptures. Like for instance, who is the Harlot woman in revelation? Is it the Catholic church? The catholics are the least educated about the scriptures. the priest of old and the modern ones have been successful in holding the truth away from its people.

  44. Father Mike i keep getting rejected by the Catholic churches in my area because my spouse is transgender. But i am trying to become Catholic.
I want to participate in the RCIA programs but the churches in my area keep telling me to go somewhere else. Even though they have RCIA classes going on right now. I feel left out. Is there another way to take RCIA classes?

  45. Christianity comes from Catholicism no matter how much you people hate and deny it. Catholicism is Christianity father lol hahahahha hehehehe hahahahha lol

  46. God said in the New testament that "The pillar and foundation of Truth is the Church." and that "The Holy Spirit is sent to make sure the Church does not go astray."

More info in Catholic Answers here in YouTube. Just search it.

  47. Someone once said that indifference to evil is more evil than evil itself.  That is what 99% of social media is like, and you wonder why nothing changes? The indifference of Source, Gods, or Goddess, to Evil, says it All

    Straight Talk for Seekers

  48. I just have one question, how do Catholics know that Peter was a Pope? Jesus never calls him that and he (or any one else for that matter) doesn't call himself that either

  49. I could go over why Catholic, Baptist, Adventist, etc… are all man made because the kingdom of God is not reduced to a mere denomination but it is a regroup of all the elected or saved. However, I got a more pressing question for you so I'm gonna leave this point for another day. Ok, here is my pressing question, help me understand that, sir; How can the catholic church be the church of Christ, therefore have devine authorithy to preach in the name of God when it blatantly performing outside the boundaries of the will of God?

God says: "Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God." (Exodus 34 : 14)

Catholic church says: Let's worship Christ mother (Mary), let's worship the disciples such as Peter, John, etc.

God says: "You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments. (Exodus 20 : 4-6)

Catholic church says: Let have images all over our temples and pray to them

I could keep going on so many other Catholic practices that are against God's commands. But I'm gonna stop here and hope you will find the courage to respond to me. But if you don't, I'll understand.

  50. Hello , I find your videos very interesting! The Catholic Church has Authority, based on your interpretation of Scripture is that so? Would that not make it opinion or point of view?

  51. the church founded by Jesus Christ are the martyrs named in Foxe's Book of Martyrs……that's the church Jesus Christ started. Now do your homework to see who martyrdom them? Jesus never called Peter the Pope as you say at 3:57. Where is this in the Bible? It's not there. Why do you mislead? wanna know about the history of the Catholic Church? read the book, "50 years in the church of rome", by ex-priest and personal friend of Abraham Lincoln, Charles Chiniquy. correction my friend, the Catholic Church lost its authority when Martin Luther stood against its corruption of the selling of indulgences; taking money from people and telling them by paying, their sins would be forgiven. How far from the truth. This is why God allowed the reformation…….and the Catholic Church could not stand against it, and for 500 years now, it has tried to wipe it out……to remove the protest. to end protestantism. learn my friends, do not be deceived. watch here on youtube, "Alberto series", "History of the Bible", "Sister Charlotte's testimony", "50 years in the church of rome", by Charles Chiniquy "Washington in the lap of Rome", by Dr. Justin Fulton. watch the video of Sinead O'Connor on SNL, tearing up a pic of the pope. watch the recent movie, "Spotlight" , with Michael Keaton, watch "Luther 2003", with Ralph Fiennes, the movie about the reformation….a very good movie. May God bless and protect you as you seek the truth.

  52. Fr. Mike, I am grateful for your faithful ministry! A few weeks ago, I've translated this video into my native language, Japanese.
I am wondering why it is taking so long to appear. I really wish your videos are available in our language since we don't have any Catholic Youtube evangelists here in Japan. I am more than happy to support you with the translation.
I pray that the Holy Spirit continues to guide you and your team. God bless! 🙂

  53. It doesn't matter what religion you have, the important thing is to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior by Faith you are save.John 14:6 proved

  54. I was guided to Catholicism for the same reason I was guided to the Army when I was 21 (I’m 32 and honorably discharged now). I needed structure in my life; rather than authority?

  55. I wouldn't say that it's so much as authority ( while as a Catholic myself, I don't deny the power of Roman Catholic Church or its leadership) but more of HOW we practice our mass. Now I've only been to a Baptist service once, and it was a long time ago, but it's just so different from Catholic mass and I just prefer Catholic mass. Nothing against Baptists because yall are my fellow Christian brothers and sisters, I just don't get y'alls method of worship. I love all of you whether you're Catholic or not, and I pray we can all live our lives in accordance to the teachings of our Savior, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!

  56. 🚩Catholic is evil. They teach to pray to statues and to pray the mother Mary prayer. Do not be Decieved like this guy. Just like it says in the bible many will come after me claiming to be me but will misslead many … False prophet.. Catholics teach religion and deception many pedofiles in the catchlic church and the Vatican is evil…. being born again Christian focus is on jesus… This guy even calls himself father which is wrong. Do not be charmed bye his cheeseygrin and false doctrine…… Be baptised born again Christian follow jesus not religion….he's truth mixed with lies

  57. The Bible teaches everything an the one who wrote it teaches everything. Catholicism sees nothing wrong with blasphemous veneration of Mary, building images of God as is forbidden in the second commandment. Do not be lead away repent of your sins and believe and trust in Jesus.

  58. My father was Catholic but he left the Catholic Church in the 80s and became an Evangelist. my mother's family was Catholic but then my mother's father began to question the Catholic Church because all of this stuff that they were teaching like do not commit adultery my grandfather saw one priest with a prostitute so he said I am done with this and left

  59. Whats the differrnce? The difference is that catholics bow down to statues, and the Bible says that you should not curve images to bow down to it and worship it. Yes the three kings bow down to mary, bowing down is a sign of respect, but was mary an image? Yes in the old testament they curved an image, but did they worship and bow down to it? And if you say that your not really bowing down to it, what is the difference of you to a muslim? You catholics say that muslims are idolaters because they bow down to a curve image. But muslims say that they are not really bowing down to it. Whats your difference to an islam? Listen you have to think about this before you want to be a catholic, pray to God that is unseen, not a statue or image.

  60. The statement by Father Mike, " an infallible book without an infallible interpreter is why you have 30,000 denominations in America…" Is false because Romans 3:23 states that all have sinned. This includes all of the popes. There is no one that is infallible. Except Christ. Hence the Roman Catholic Martian Luther's point of Sola Scriptura and solus Christus. Wether you are a Catholic or a Protestant you must make the decision to follow Jesus for yourself. Do not let a denomination or a bishop tell you the way. You know the way, the truth and the life. It is though Jesus. May God bless you and may he be with you as you seek him.

  61. "doug batchelor revolation the bride the beast and babylon amazing fact limited" <-youtube video

Interesting to know how the catholic church developed through the explanation by historians. Give it a watch and let me know what you guys think.

  62. But didn't we, fallable humans, interpret what the bible says about what specific people have authority? I struggle to see how we could be objective and avoid human error when choosing who gets to decide what the church teaches.

  63. None of this makes sense or is backed up by biblical logic or knowledge. He’s just “chasing rabbits” and not proving a point at all. None of the explanations are complete.
